Sorry to dump feelings

I know this is stupid, but my best little buddy.... 14.5 yr old cockapoo was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer today. We will take him in too say goodbye in a couple of days. I have three other big dogs, but he ran the house lol. Slept by my wife for the whole time we had him. The Husky, Std. Goldendoodle, and our Pitbull were all trained by him in the rules of house. Gonna miss him big time..

Just needed an outlet....

Oh no. Being here for others is the best reason for this board. I am really sorry for you. It hurts. Yesterday I was looking through pictures on my phone and saw my best dog. I had to put him down 6 years ago. I am still sad about it.

Sorry to hear bro.............................I lost my best friend Zoe , my 14 year old Weimaraner in 2010 and still miss her everyday..........She was so silly , but smart as could be .......i had to take her everywhere with me .....She would set in the front seat and guard our car when i went into walmart , etc........Slept with me for her whole life.....When Paducah had the ice storm in 2009 we were without power for 8 weeks .....She was my 80 lbs hot water bottle to snuggle up to at night ....we had gas stove and gas water heater so we made do , but i still miss her smile , her playful attitude and she hated the ex wife.....she would get in between me and the ex when emotions got intense......

I get by missing her by remembering the funny crap she did and how we both knew we loved each other .....she was a member of my family for such a long time and faithful as could be ......humans could take notice about how our animals recognize good hearted people and act accordingly.....

once again , take care and you said you still have other dogs......I just can't bring myself to get another dog .....Maybe a cat down the road .........jmho

I feel your pain, Orange Life. It’s so hard to lose our precious pups who are part of our family. I lost my heart dog two years ago, Mimi, a black standard poodle, who lived to just over 13 years. She was my retirement present to myself when I retired from teaching. I trained her to be a therapy dog, and for 11 years, I took her to schools and libraries so kids who didn’t like to read could read out loud to her and not be judged. She was very special, and everybody was her friend. I still miss her. Please know that other here on IL sympathize and do understand what you’re going through…

I know im late to the thread. I hope the weight of losing your friend has come down a bit. It took a while to get over losing my best friend in 2018. 3 years later we adopted a dog and he has helped let go quite a bit. Hope you have a happy new year! The pain will fade eventually Illini comrade.
