Seattle leads 1-0 after first period.....................

Blues were thoroughly outplayed by the Kraken in the 1st period........Slow to the puck and passes not sharp.....I bet the Chief will have many choice words in this intermission and the Blues deserve every one of them....

Nice to see Vince Dunn , former D-man and Stanley Cup champ for the Blues.........He received a warm welcome from the best fans in the NHL.......A video earlier showed Vince talking to Robert Thomas before the game , laughing and having a nice visit.....Vince was underrated in my opinion and I would NOT have exposed him to the expansion draft , but I'm an old man with no say so in Blues decisions......

Bernie just said that the Blues were outworked and having good focus and decision making........So , onto period # 2 ....the Blues have the NHL best goal differential in second periods and they need to wake up and make it happen.....

Seattle still leads 1-0 after 2 periods.........

Same play by the Blues as the 1st period was.....They are letting the Kraken penetrate deep after crossing the Blues blue line and have shown goal puck control while in the Blues end.....

The Blues had 3 power play opportunities in the period with hardly any chances on scoring ......Way too many missed passes and the Blues just don't sem to have that spark needed to get rolling......Maybe Bortuzzo or Kostin can start a fight and get the Blues juice's going..........................

Second straight game with no Blues goals in the first 2 periods of the game........................Bernie again is praising the Kraken's play and it is well deserved....

Husso's play in goal has been brilliant and has kept this game from being a 3-0 or 4-0 lead for the Kraken...................

The comeback Blues , with their 13th come from behind win ( most in the NHL ) beat the Seattle Kraken 2-1.........

As poor as the Blues played in the first two periods , they came out shorthanded to start the third period but turned up the heat on the Kraken and got goals from Robert Thomas and Peter Buchnevich to get the win...........

Ville Husso was the games first star and it was well deserved ...............Jordan Kyrou was named before the game to his first NHL All Star game ....Well deserved also.......................

Blues next game is at home ,Saturday 01/15/22 against the Toronto Maple Leafs@ 6 pm CT......................Blues are now 12-0-1 in their last 13 home games ...............DOMINANCE................

LETS GO BLUES............................................Saturday's game is also the night the Blues retire Chris Pronger's number....again , well deserved

For the Blues, 13 is far from an unlucky number. It’s the resiliency number, and it changes on a pretty regular basis.
It represents 13 comeback victories, a league-leading total in the National Hockey League. Another one was added to the tote board Thursday in a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken at Enterprise Center.

On a night when the tenacious Kraken looked like anything but an expansion team, the Blues trailed 1-0 after two periods before goals by Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich early in the third period pushed the team’s home points streak to — here’s that number again — 13 games.They are 12-0-1 in that span. It’s the third-longest home streak in franchise history; they haven’t lost at home since Nov. 16 against the lowly Arizona Coyotes.

Still don't know how they won last night as they didn't play particularly well.

Couple interesting stats I heard about them today. They're the only team in NHL that is top 5 in goals scored and top 8 in fewest goals allowed. Blues and Anaheim are only two teams in NHL in top 5 in both power play percentage and penalty kill percentage.

COVID hits keep coming for Blues: Buchnevich joins the list

He beomes the 21st Blues player on the COVID list this season.

Pavel Buchnevich, who scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win Thursday over the Seattle Kraken, became the latest Blue placed on the COVID list Friday. He’s the sixth Blues player currently on the list and the 21st Blue in COVID protocol this season.
Dakota Joshua was recalled from Springfield to take Buchnevich’s place on the active roster. Additionally, the Blues brought up Alexei Toropchenko from Springfield to the taxi squad.

Blues players have missed 72 games because of COVID this season. Combine that with a now-subsided rash of injuries since Thanksgiving and the Blues have had next to no lineup continuity, particularly at forward.

With the number of players the Blues have had injured or out with COVID this season, just about every night seems to be a comeback for somebody.
And every night, there seems to be a comeback for the Blues.
Brayden Schenn returned to the lineup after missing two games with COVID (or, as he said, nothing more than a stuffy nose) and had two goals, two assists and two penalties as the Blues came from behind to win for the 14th time this season in a 5-3 victory over Nashville in a Central Division showdown before a sellout crowd at Enterprise Center that came out in part to see Chris Pronger’s number 44 get retired.

Here’s a news flash for you. The Blues don’t have a single player on the COVID list. At least that was the case during Wednesday’s practice at Centene Community Ice Center.
There have been 21 Blues on the COVID list at one time or another this season. And No. 21 on that list, forward Pavel Buchnevich, returned to practice and is expected to play Friday in Seattle.

Full roster (almost)

With the team’s COVID list clean, the Blues are as close as they’ve been all season to having their full roster available. Twenty-two of the 23 players on the active roster practiced Wednesday, as did all four taxi-squad members.
The only player who didn’t practice was defenseman Scott Perunovich, who has an unspecified injury.
“Right now, he’s day-to-day,” Berube said.

SEATTLE — For all their success at home — and there’s been plenty of that — the Blues have been a .500 team on the road this season at 7-7-3.
Which is uncharacteristic for a Blues team that has been strong on the road in recent seasons. Obviously, they’d like to get back into that habit, starting with Friday’s 9 p.m. (Central) contest against the Seattle Kraken.
Then again, it seems like a long time since the team has been on the road. There was the Winter Classic in Minneapolis, of course. And a Jan. 5 game in Pittsburgh.
But the Blues are coming off a five-game homestand, and prior to a Dec. 19 game in Winnipeg, they had played five of the previous six at Enterprise Center.
“We haven’t had that many road games in the last month or so,” Justin Faulk said. “So I don’t even think it’s in guys’ heads.
“We know what we need to do to play good hockey. We’ve been finding ways to win games in the last few weeks. I think we can have that carry over here on the road. We’ve just gotta keep building our game.

Blues are fully healthy in terms of covid protocol though a bit of an odd situation with Buchnevich. He can play tonight in Seattle but due to Canada's covid protocols, he can't play Sunday in Vancouver since that will be the 10th day since his positive test. But he can rejoin the team and play Monday in Calgary.

Blues goalie, making his third successive start, stops 38 of 39 shots.

Besides, the Canucks were plenty good without those guys, making the Blues work very hard for their 3-1 victory. The Blues won despite being outshot 39-17 – the third-highest shot deficit for them this season at 22.But how do you spell “eraser” in Finnish? It must be H-u-s-s-o. Because Ville Husso was scintillating in his first NHL game played on Canadian soil. (Or more accurately, Canadian ice.)

“Husso was amazing tonight,” said Vladimir Tarasenko, who with two assists extended his point streak to nine games. “I think we gave up some chances; Husso was playing amazing.”
