Scott Perunovich’s time has come. The prized defenseman prospect has been recalled by the Blues, who in turn have sent goalie Joel Hofer, forward Dakota Joshua and defenseman Calle Rosen back to the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League.

Perunovich, 23, was tearing it up in Springfield. He assisted on both goals in Saturday’s 2-1 overtime victory over Lehigh Valley, giving him 18 assists on the season. He also has scored two goals, giving him 20 points in just 12 games to share the scoring lead in the AHL. Perunovich, who missed one game, had at least one point in all 12 games he played for the Thunderbirds, who lead the Atlantic Division with a 9-2-2 record.

The departure of Hofer means that No. 2 goalie Ville Husso is ready to return after a stint on the COVID list.

----------------------------------------

Kinda surprised by Calle Rosen being sent out but I guess with Krug and Mikkola being able to return and the Blues really want to see what Perunovich can do , it does make sense......

Anything to get the Blues back to their winning ways earlier....

Let's Go Blues

Remember those shooting, scoring Blues of October? You know the guys who jumped to a 5-0-0 start and averaged five goals a game in the process?
Well, they returned to Enterprise Center on Thursday night with a 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks. Whether this was a one-night stand or the start of a long-running engagement remains to be seen. But the return of these Blues was widely appreciated by the 16,953 in attendance.
Not to mention the head coach. Craig Berube wanted a more direct game, a team game, a return to Blues-style hockey. And his players responded. There are no guarantees, but it just reinforces the point that when the Blues play a certain way, good things can happen.

As a result, the Blues ended a four-game winless streak (0-3-1), their longest since an 0-6-1 skid from March 22 through April 5 of last season. And they did it with Ville Husso in net, back from COVID, and with two goals from Brandon Saad.

“We moved the puck really well,” Berube said. “I thought our D moved the puck well in transition. The forwards made good decisions for the most part and that’s important. We’re a puck possession team. We got a lot of guys, they want to hang onto pucks and make plays, and we’re all for it. But it’s about managing it.”

DALLAS — In some games you can search long and hard to understand on where a game was lost.
On Saturday, the Blues made it easy.
The Blues gave up two short-handed goals, both to Roope Hintz, as well as a power-play goal in a 4-1 loss to Dallas at American Airlines Center. The Blues went 1 for 6 on the power play. Four times they had a man advantage and a chance to tie the game, including two in the first four minutes of the third period, and didn’t score on any of them.
“You give up two short-handed goals, you’re probably not going to win the game,” coach Craig Berube said.
“We have to be better there,” said captain Ryan O’Reilly.

Red Wings lead the Blues 2-1 at the end of 2nd period.....

Blues have really controlled the play , with almost 70 % of the play in the Red Wings end......

Blues not winning many face-offs and when Detroit gets in the Blues end they have paid off with a goal in the 2nd period on only 3 shots......

Blues need to start driving to the net and look for juicy rebounds.......

Lets Go Blues

I'm mad that ESPN+ has gotten so screwy with games.

I think this new TV deal is a serious downgrade. I feel like I often used to be able to flip past NBCSN and a game would be on. Now there seems to be a weekly game on TNT that is a late time zone start and that's about it. Maybe this new deal is more aligned with the cord cutters?

I suspect it's primarily an age thing. I have zero interest in trying to find a stream for the game. I just want it delivered via my existing cable connection (Xfinity). My kid had no trouble finding the stream through some website available via the XBox, but that's what he does all the time while he's at school.

We got you today. ;-) That's hockey - hard to figure from game to game or even period to period sometimes.

TNT will have games in the earlier time zone start after the first of the year once AEW moves to TBS. ESPN itself is only getting 25 national games, mostly on Thursdays with some Tuesdays later in the season, but them and ABC do get the bulk of the postseason games.

Have to remember that this time of year networks like ESPN are having to schedule around college football and hoops and the NFL.

Good to know coverage should improve as the season goes on. I preferred when hockey was on the network that only had to schedule around the Tour de France. :)
