And another softy...way off being square to the goal

Wonder if Chief pulls Binner if he gives up another couple of goals early ?.....................I would .............

Flames lead the Blues 3-1 after 1st period........

Another first period where the Blues were terribly outshot and played like in quicksand.......Binnington let in a soft 1st goal and then the defense of the Blues left open a forward for the Flames in front of the net for another goal and finally Bortuzzo took out Binner in the crease for another easy Flames goal.......

Lindgren and now Husso have both outplayed Binnington in goal and I bet the Blues front office see it also....Should be interesting .........

Bernie F. is not holding back in his criticism of the Blues play both last night and tonight........

CALGARY, Alberta — With Ville Husso taking over the Blues’ net by storm, Monday was a big night for Jordan Binnington — a night to reclaim some of his turf. After giving up four or more goals in four of his last six games, Binnington made his first start since Jan. 15 against Toronto.
Not that he got any help, but things got worse Monday. Binnington was shelled for seven goals on 35 shots in a 7-1 loss to the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome. It could’ve been worse, but coach Craig Berube pulled Binnington after two periods and brought Husso in for relief.
Call it a humanitarian gesture.

Binnington wasn’t the only Blue who had an early night. Defenseman Niko Mikkola has been one of the team’s top success stories this season, but not on Monday. He struggled all night, was minus-5, and played only 11 minutes 36 seconds. Like Binnington, he didn’t play in the third period.

I usually don't turn off games of my fav teams , but last night I did.......Without any doubt , it was the worst game of the year for the Blues.......Top to bottom , in every facet of the game , the Blues were whipped..............................nuff said.............

The Blues return home to face these same Flames , Thursday 01/27/22 @ 7 pm ct.....................

The Blues began the second half of the season with a resounding thud in Calgary. But overall, the major indicators say this can be a contending team, one that can make a deep playoff run. Even with Jordan Binnington’s struggles.
Look no farther than the four major statistical categories of NHL hockey for proof that St. Louis has the ingredients of a top 10 team:
• Goals for: Fifth in the NHL at 3.45 goals per game.
• Goals against: Ninth, at 2.71 goals per game.
• Power play: Third, at 28.9 percent.
• Penalty kill: Fourth, at 84.3 percent.

The numbers are all the more impressive when considering the toll taken by injuries and COVID. Sure, the Blues are not the Lone Rangers here, but they’ve had more than their share. They’ve yet to have their entire roster available for a single game.

great article for Blues fan's perspective.......breaks down offense , defense , goaltending and special teams.......I heartily recommend giving this your attention........

home game of back to back with the Flames tonight @ 7 pm .........I sincerely hope Ville Husso is in goal tonight............

Blues lead 3-1 after 2......................

Effort is night and day compared to the 7-1 shellacking the Blues got in Calgary..............crisp passing and plenty of shots compared to last 2 games for the Blues....
If I'm Chief I keep Husso in net and ride him till he falters ......let Binnington play the second game of any back to back games , but Husso has the right to be the # 1 goalie in my opinion........I hope financial concerns don't play a role into returning Binnington back in goal....
I would add that Lindgren was playing better than Binnington , but $$ talk's........

Saad with 2 goals and with Schenn in the center spot of that line it has created plenty of scoring chances...............

LETS GO BLUES......................

I think only part of this layoff is for the All-Star break (because many of the other teams are still playing through next Thursday). I think it also happens to be the bye week that the NHL gives them off that's built into the schedule.

Tom Timmermann
When Blues coach Craig Berube juggled his lines after his team’s rocky night in the Canadian Rockies on Monday, he turned to a combination that he hadn’t tried much. He returned Brayden Schenn to center for the first time since he returned from his second injury in early January, and matched him with Brandon Saad and David Perron. It worked. Saad scored twice, matching his goal total from last season in Colorado, and had an assist, Schenn had a goal and an assist and Perron didn’t have a point but body-slammed a Flame and was a general pain in the butt as the Blues avenged Monday’s messy loss with a 5-1 win over the Flames before a sellout crowd at Enterprise Center. The Blues also got third-period goals from Jordan Kyrou and Ryan O’Reilly to seal the win. The Blues have one more game, on Saturday at Enterprise against Winnipeg, before their extended All-Star break.

The Blues were wide awake this time, looking nothing like the team that got thumped 7-1 on Monday. They were aggressive and effective on the forecheck, they broke up Calgary chances before they became shots and when they did, Ville Husso was there to swallow them up. Husso stopped 28 of 29 shots, and has stopped 106 of 108 shots over his past three games. He won his sixth straight game and has allowed one goal or fewer in five of them. “I haven’t seen a better goalie in the league lately,” said Saad.

Nice praise for Husso from a veteran like Saad........................I hope Chief keeps him in goal for the forseeable future........

You were right. I thought they might start binner to get him some confidence before the long break.

Of course if he sucks again, then that could be worse
Had to be Husso , my friend.....leads the league in save % and GAA................

Blues -Jets tied 1-1 on a fluke Jets goal......
