I have seen people who have crunched the numbers, and they do not believe it will happen. Scott Boras is his agent, and he will demand a high price.
I'm a Cardinals fan and he would be silly to leave the champs....

I would guess this takes the Cardinals out of the Japanese starters talks..................
I wouldn’t be too sure, it sounds like they’re trying to move Matz

With Gray's contract back loaded and if they move Matz they will have north of 30 mil to still spend this season.

Throw in Gibson and Lynn are on 1 year deals with club options for a 2nd season. Ton of leeway this season and beyond. I have wanted Matz moved for awhile so hopefully this comes to fruition.

Glasnow is the big name being thrown around at $25 million left for just this season. Great pitcher WHEN HEALTHY. Baseball meetings coming up and I look for a trade.......ton of options available

I suspect we will get one more starter and bullpen help. I'd love to get Glasgow. Like players on their pre free agent year

They could also open up some money if they trade away TON and get the other team to take on his salary.

The other team will take TON but the Cards pay for a big portion of his salary is more than likely how it will shake out.

All of it depends on the value coming back to the Cardinals if/when TON is traded. Last year of arbitration so another $5M+ this season. It will depend if part of bigger deal, just want to unload him, trade him for small level prospect, etc. Low risk high reward potential for a team to take him on for even just a season.

i think they have positioned them selves nicely to trade for #1 or 2 starer and take on salary. will they,
im not sure. gray is good but there's a big drop from #1 to #2,3,4 and we don't want 2022 gray.
Mo is weird about being the loser on a deal. its a gamble this team has to go for. gonna cost donovan
and Burleson or edman or gorman or two of the four and maybe a prospect. If gorman's back is still
questionable he might not be the value we think he is.
