TeShurt

A true pioneer in Illini history passed today. My father Bob Sammons whose father opened teshurt on Wright street in 1956 passed away today. TeShurt was a campus main stay for over 60 years. The players, coaches, students who worked for us, and all the fans who patronized that store meant the world to him. He will be cremated in an orange chief illiniweck shirt tomorrow. We lived next door to Loren Tate and just down the street from Lou Henson for many years. He will be a tough person to replace as an Illinois fan.

Rest in peace dad we loved you.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I live in Alabama and we always visited the TeShurt store on our visits to Champaign. BTW are you the one who created the original Flyin Illini logo?

Yes, I created that logo first for Kenny Battle and then Kendal Gill and I became really good friends and I ended up making them for everyone on the team. During the week of the final 4 I would drive every night to De Moines (we did not do our own screen printing back then) Iowa of all places and pick up 3000 - 5000 shirts which we would sell out of in less than 30 minutes the next morning. I was young back then and could go without sleep. Thanks to you and everyone that shopped at my parents store.

Sorry for your loss. Condolences to your family. Loved the store in the late 80s when I was on campus.
