Unfortunately I don't think we can get him, but Joey "The Clown" Lombardo. Just think of the media rights deal the BIG10 woud've gotten. At least 2-3x as much as current one.

Then Mad Sam DeStefano in charge of the conference Ethics Committee

Hard for me to comprehend why there hasn't been more talk - on this board or others - about the B1G Commissioner search... strange ! ! !

choice 1a - Phillips
choice 1b - Phillips
choice 1c - Phillips

I think the B1G still has to go through the motions of interviewing other people, just for appearances sake.
In the meantime, Phillips isnt going anywhere.
I believe that is the main reason for lack of discussion on it.

Can someone provide an argument for Phillips while discussing his tenure as ACC commissioner?

Seems conference commissioners come from a plethora of backgrounds. Most, to my knowledge have some sort of understanding or experience with athletics/athletic administration. Preference I would think a marketing background currently would be nice. That being said….

I have almost ZERO understanding, even of the big 10 after Delany, what the commissioners actually do (besides give Michigan an bball conf championship). Are they puppets for school presidents? Athletic directors? Just a face? Marketing experts? Negotiators? Some combination therein? Do they want something similar to the past or more ‘forward looking’? Seems we already know where the, football at least, lens is going and going to be for the foreseeable future. Is an ‘innovator’ even necessary?

Dunno, I was having a conversation with a very knowledgeable football guy, and both of us realized we weren’t really sure

Replying to my own comment b/c 15 mins has passed. Why not get just a ‘professional CEO’ that understands business? Ya know, the type that goes from company to company and is always CEO, even though it’s a different industry.

Frankly, I don't get it... This is at a minimum the 2nd best, if not THE BEST job in collegiate sports. I do understand the necessity for secrecy and diligence... Yet, for a search to take that long is aggravating...IMHO...

it’s simple
in todays world , you need to satisfy as many groups as you can that a thorough search was done and that no one person was singled out to get the job from day one .

this is 2023, not 1963 .
