If we ever change our mascot / team logo away from the Fighting Illini, maybe we should consider something in reference to the sky. The day and night sky represent endless possibilities, dreams and the future. Orange and Blue are also the colors of the sunset which is uniquely large and beautiful in Illinois.

This feels a little to close to WNBA teams for my liking…

Sure and Pruman would be a natural to design the mascot's outfit

I actually kind of like this. Something along the lines of the Illini Sky Warriors. The mascot could be a superhero type with orange and blue wings We could incorporate the Illinois shield. Would be better than the kingfisher IMHO.

Sorry, the only decent option is Prairie Dogs. 🙂

To me, the only option that really makes sense is to change the team name from The Fighting Illini to...The Fighting Illini. Don't change the name, just the focus. Our football team plays in Memorial Stadium for a reason. A WWI soldier would be an appropriate honoring of those that serve, and best of all, we wouldn't have to change the name as this is also a song reference to those that fought in WWI from Illinois.

The idea is nice but I can't see the BoT approving anyone/thing who carries a gun.

Maybe they should have the mascot be a burlap sack that is painted orange and blue.

Very non-offensive and it would almost fit with our songs.

Just change, "Bring out that dear old flag of orange and blue" to "Bring out that dear old bag of orange and blue."

I don't think a gun is necessary in the logo. A ceremonial weapon such as the one the color guard wears would be appropriate for in person...or a burlap sack...ya know, whatevs.

Kingfisher all the way. The students have spoken.

Many on this page are old- and we need fresh ideas to drive the fans of the future.

We are already fans... our opinion is not as important on this topic.

And for the record, the Kingfisher is an amazing predator.

I will only support a WWI style soldier or my own personal creation, Blocky the I. Where you graphic designers at? Need your help to spruce up my vision! Keep the Fighting Illini name and have this guy roaming the court/sidelines and getting into crazy hijinks with opposing team/fans.
