Trent Frazier named B1G Freshman of the Week

Congrats to Trent. And yes, Trent really uses his speed, which is great.

Couldn't help but notice this, and not looking forward to playing Bridges:
 Averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two wins last week

yeah, against Long Beach State and Houston Baptist

I guess all those recruiting vids of him gliding past defenders in high school should have been taken seriously - I for one thought it was weak competition - wrong evidently

He is really good at using quickness, his body, positioning and extension to get shots off against big guys. He also seems to have a little of the same deception used by Ryan Arcidiacono to create space to get shots off. He was one of the best I can remember seeing and Trent possesses some of the same.

There was a period of time when this board questioned Frazier. He is gonna ball out in the Big10

What percentage of posts does it have to be to make it the entire board, including those who did not share this sentiment?

Not saying everyone was dogging him, but a fair share of doubters here argued he was a quasi-4 star recruit, didn’t prove himself in AAU, wasn’t Groces answer at point guard, wouldn’t contribute much as an underclassman, etc.

Most of the B1G FOY, 1st team all B!G, and 1 and done type talk was focused on Smith and clearly, not any pre-season hype for Frazier.

Gotcha. I love me some Trent, now, then and forever. (Does that sound too Tom Creanish?)

I was not one of them, although I have hyped up D-Will as a potential Mr Illinois, had he not been hurt. Truth is we imo technically have 3 players with Mr Basketball skill sets...2 with the title and another that would have challenged.

A good problem to have since all are guards and just 2-3 years ago, we were all lamenting the struggles of Groce to land a solid if not spectacular one to lead us back.:chief:
