Are the damages he's asking for, based on the millions more that he would have received had he been the lottery pick that he should have been if not for the bogus trial?
I'd imagine that and i'd also imagine potential endorsements is included in it.

Likely just having the accusation will significantly impact his future potential sponsorships and he's likely already lost out on some that he might have been offered during the year and for March Madness since he was the most exciting perimeter player to watch in college last year and should have been a 1st team all American.

Damage to his reputation is probably even greater than the drop in his draft stock. (He was still a 1st rounder) He wasn't selected as an All-American because he missed games due to these charges, and people refused to vote for him due to these charges. Many people will always assume he was/is guilty simply because he was charged.

I assume these cases are typically difficult to win.

Good for him, the people that pushed this trial with the evidence they had really need to be held accountable. These are the people that absolutely should have known better. to drag him through the mud in the most important time of his life because they had an axe to grind with star athletes was infuriating when everything that was known came to light.

If its anything like California the govt. will settle for the maximum of its insurance policy (probably couple million).

Loss of reputation and loss of draft stock go hand in hand. If they can convince a jury or a judge that the first caused the second, they would have something a little more concrete to base their case on, hopefully making it less difficult to win.
