Was totally gonna bet the under. Standing policy of not betting on my own teams saves me again.

Stopped watching after the 27th or so penalty. Jeez.

Oh well. Very disappointing but this team will still raise eyebrows in the Big Ten season. Just watch.

Ok. We've got a really good RB. We've got a QB who is a tough runner and not that good of a passer. So I've got an idea. Let's pass pass pass. Let's pass 7 straight times in the first half, with the 7th being a pick (that happened). Let's pop a run for 6 yds on first down and then pass pass punt. Let's pass and then run for 5 or 6 and then pass punt. If you run you move the chains, you run the clock, and then you can mix in some pass, some play action etc. or you can just pass pass pass with a team that's a bad passing team but could be a decent running team.

Couldn't agree more.

Our OC needs to wake up. Play choice has been a head scratcher thru first 3 games.

Well Jeff George JR is a better QB then Crouch. Of course it's a risk and reward type deal with him. But you can't deny that arm is accurate when given time. His problem will be limiting turnovers. i rather score with George then continue to struggle to play with Crouch.

It also could be that the coaches were trying to send a message to the team by having them keep after the other team and still compete, and when you are down by a bunch, that often results in getting pass happy. I don't think this game is going to dictate how we run our offense going forward.

Ah, well. Why couldn't the WKU game be on ESPN?

I think these guys will learn a lot from this game. Maybe that's the Koolaid-Aid talking, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Those 7 straight passes were at 6-2. I don't care about the last quarter and a half, sure, pass when you're down 24. But before that we blew our chance to compete in this game by deciding not to run with a good running QB and RB, but instead to pass with a bad passing QB.

I'm not worried and I don't think anyone else should be.

Everyone needs to remember.... Our team is clearly in a rebuilding process. Period.

First 3 games and we come out of it 2-1 record. I'd say we are doing alright. Kids are learning on the fly by playing immediately. Growing pains will happen this year.

Our OC does have some decisions to make at QB but again, we are rebuilding, so it's inevitable that starters at the beginning of the season might not be who we go with once coaches see players get evaluated over the first 3 games.

What bothers me the most is our Ofeensive play calling.

Crouch in:
Yes we do a few read options and moving the QB out of pocket but it's so little that Crouch is being used as a passing QB/traditional drop back passer. **makes no sense when we all know he doesn't have the tools to do that***

George in:

Yes we were behind and was forced to throw throw throw but we still should have run the ball.

The simply fact that our OC says he wants a power running game........but then in the games we barely do any runs at all is a little discouraging. Not talking about tonight's game but even Ball State and WKU I felt like we needed to run the ball way more then we did.

3 games in.....2-1 record.....coaches will take going into a bye to review all personal and make adjustments as needed.

Here's to hoping we run the ball VS Nebby to keep our young but promising Defense off the field.

PS. Our DC needs to figure out how to stop that simple easy run draw South Florida ran on us all night or we will get gashed the rest of the season.

Lovie needs to go with George Jr. We have some really good young receivers and Epstein is also a good receiver. The offense is much too one dimensional with Chayce.

Easy to get down after a beating like this but I think it's a good growth opportunity. If nothing else, teaches the young guys that they still have a lot of work to do to get where they want to be.

Agreed. And this is perhaps the best possible time to have an open date on the schedule.

I thought you were talking about later when George was in and we were down a bunch. As for the part of the game you're referring to, I question that logic as well. What I want to see is how George does when we're trying to establish a balanced offense.

YES! Beat Nebraska!! One of my best buds is a Nebbie grad and I'm going to his house to watch the game. I'd love nothing better then to pull out a win here!:thumb:

Would've liked to see the team play better / smarter, but all I really care about this year is signing day. If we keep the verbals we have and add a few more good players then the rebuild is in very, very good shape.

Definitely one to grow on. Not too distraught over the loss -- remember, lots of freshmen and sophomores getting valuable playing time and experience. That said, McGee does need to consider giving JGJr some more reps - he looked far more comfortable passing than Crouch.

Liking what I'm seeing from Epstein and Smalling, In any case.

A loss that I figured was coming, but hoped wasn't. That little glimmer of hope coming from the 2-0 start and lots of other factors in our favor, but ultimately, we are who we thought we are. The team needs a couple of years in the weight room, but I like the young core of the team.

I guess we went to the pass because their D was playing to stuff the run, and doing it quite effectively. Did we have more then a couple plays of any positive yards in our first couple possessions?

Bad coaching

I understand losing with many freshman. But I don't understand players that can't hold a position, avoid motion penalties, jump offside, block in the back, target and hit late OOB. With this much coaching experience this complete lack of discipline is an absolute embarrassment. What the hell are they teaching these guys all day long. Navy plays entire games with just 2 penalties. And we can't hold a stance till the snap? That's indefensible.

Crouch is a new category of QB - the ZERO threat QB. You can't run with 7 defenders in the box. And you can't put 7 defenders in the box unless you know that the QB can't throw or hit a target beyond 10 yards.

George has to be the new QB. His arm will create space for our backs to run...and grow. Our receivers can do the job if the ball is put where they can catch it.

I never miss a game and never will. But Love smith and his staff should be mortified of the lack of basics on display on national TV last night. Let's start with competence and work our way up to winning.
