That was a fundamentally sound beat down from UVA. We now have a goal in site and that is to be where UVA is in year 4 of the Bielema Era.
Frustrated with the slow starts, but that is where we will see coaching throughout the season. If it continues to Week 6 or 7, I’ll be very concerned.

As a fan, there’s nothing I love more than watching my team get throttled for three quarters and then start picking up unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Really, the best of all possible worlds.
I feel so frustrated, angry, embarrassed, hurt etc that it’s hard to find words. I will NOT give up on this coaching staff and the Illini players. Just won’t do it, just can’t do it. It’s going to take some time, that’s all anyone can say at this point. Be patient, I know it’s really hard.
Definitely looks like I way underestimated how atrocious Lovie’s recruiting truly was. Idk if it’s because the highs of Beason and IW and the hits on lowly ranked Hobbs and Bennett made me think he was better than he ended up being or what. But man…just the skill disparity in that game was absurd.
I know the competition has gotten better each week, but it sure feels like we are regressing.

Still wondering why guys that competed for spots at major winning programs are not able to come in and grab starting spots when everyone is starting with a new system - Jafar, E.Smith - must be injuries?

Check how they performed at those previous schools. There's a reason why they were in the portal (most of them).
Allowing Ron Guenther to "lead" this program for 19 years and still having many of his sycophants voices within the program would say otherwise.
