Week 9 Polls - Illinois #17 in AP Poll

#2
Speculating we'll land at #15 in today's AP Poll. (We'll, of course, regain the votes of that AP pollster who inadvertently left us off his ballot last week.)

Show your work, lol
Syracuse and Kansas St will drop but I can’t see UCLA dropping that far so I’ll guess #16.
A win next week and a Penn St loss to Ohio St will get us inside the top 15.

I do think UCLA plummets after a bad loss. And don't forget our missing votes from last week. The Top 7 are obvious, but here's the middle of my Top 25:

8. Oregon
9. Okla St
10.USC
11.WF
12.Penn St
13.Miss
14.Utah
15.ILLINI
16.UCLA
17.SYR
18.KY

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Syracuse still ahead of us with a close loss to a top 5 team. They will still be 6-1

They have to plummet. Loss made even worse since I bet on the Ducks, which usually translates to an extra 10 points in favor of the team I bet against. So the Bruins REALLY failed to show up…

If we win the next 3 games, which I think we will, I think this will put us around 9th or 10th in the nation against a potential #2 or #3 Michigan team. I would love for this to be the primetime ABC game with Herbstreit and Chris Fowler on the call. And if we have already wrapped up the Big Ten West at that point, we will be playing with NOTHING to lose, and only something huge to gain. I feel like if we win out and lose to OSU in Indy, this gets us to the Rose Bowl......again, why not us??!! I just drank an additional cup of Orange Koolaid. If we beat OSU in Indy, they have to make us #4 with a matchup against Hendon Hooker and Tennessee.

I thought we might move up a bit more, but that’s fine. I’m sure the abysmal B10 W vs B10 E record this weekend didn’t help us any in that regard. Nebraska is playing better, but we should win and move up a few more slots next week.

its a tough place to go to and win. at least it used to be.
I dont think we score more than 24 and I dont think they score more than 14
My head tells me to be wary. My heart tells me to start the victory celebration. My gut tells me that our defense shuts Nebraska down to no touchdowns, and we grind out long drives with an improved red zone scheme (plus a fit Josh McCray) that we get touchdowns instead field goals, and at least one per quarter, following first drive that sets Nebraska on its butt.

I think 35-6 is not unreasonable…but to keep the jinx fairy at bay, Nebraska could indeed win it.
