Is it OK to root for the Iowa women's team, or do I need therapy.

Not sure what that means. But I stand by it as my answer.

If you whisper cheer it doesn't count. Also Caitlin Clark is inhuman and I'm all for it.Is it OK to root for the Iowa women's team, or do I need therapy.
Wouldn’t be an Illinois thread without carping at the refs! But I agree, refs gave SC every call down the stretch. That ‘held ball’ where the Iowa player was thrown to the ground was egregious.Unless I missed it, it is hard to believe there has not been a single lane violation called against South Carolina.
Free throw shooting does not depend on strength, size or speed… Why is it surprising that women can shoot as well (or better) than men?Just for fun I looked up the Iowa NCAA women's basketball FT% on ESPN for the year and it is 76.1% versus our men's basketball FT% of 68.0%. Pure set shooting they beat us by a comfortable margin. So why can't our men's team do better? As someone said on here the other day, maybe we need a free throw coach or more practice!
According to my math, that still leaves 80 million males (2% of 4 billion)….I’d actually take over 99% (40 million dudes) on that bet.I can tell you they would smoke 98% of the dudes on this planet
And I'd take the over on that.
She can def afford designer outfits of her choice…Her 8 year contract starts at $2.5/million a year before incentive bonuses…which will be very high this year! The LSU coach has interesting outfits.
Tune in Sunday to see if the Iowa gals can go all the way!!
I've been a fan of women's basketball for nearly 30 years. Kim typically dresses like a hoochee momma. The LSU coach has interesting outfits.
As I said earlier in the thread, women don't have the muscle or athletic ability of men. I believe the men's game has de-emphasized FT shooting versus dunks/threes/ and spectacular plays. It just takes practice for most people to hit 75% or greater (see Dick Vitale). I never played College BBall, but played on a HS team that placed 3rd in the state and nearly every guy on the team hit +70%. Not hard to do if you have proper motion and practice from an early age.Free throw shooting does not depend on strength, size or speed… Why is it surprising that women can shoot as well (or better) than men?
If anything, free throw shooting success seems to be inversely related to height.
Spot on!I've been a fan of women's basketball for nearly 30 years. Kim typically dresses like a hoochee momma.
But she knows how to coach.
Certainly can’t argue with 9 wins year prior to her arrival to NCAA round 2 to Finals and possible national title. Of course that’s on the heels of tremendous tourney success and 2 or 3 national titles at Baylor. I mean I don’t follow women’s bball much and I’ve heard of her. If LSU wins Sunday, would she be first to win women’s title at two different schools?I've been a fan of women's basketball for nearly 30 years. Kim typically dresses like a hoochee momma.

The obvious reason is the women use a smaller ball with the same size rim. So there is a larger margin of error on every shot that would allow the ball to still go in.Just for fun I looked up the Iowa NCAA women's basketball FT% on ESPN for the year and it is 76.1% versus our men's basketball FT% of 68.0%. I disagree. I think that the men struggle mainly because of the size of their hands. Some of them might feel like they are shooting a tennis ball rather than a basketball. When they are 3 foot from the basket they can use the palm of their hand to push the ball. At the free throw line it is a whole different ballgame.Free throw shooting does not depend on strength, size or speed… Why is it surprising that women can shoot as well (or better) than men?

She absolutely took that game over in the fourth quarter. Amazing to watch. From someone who use to hate women's basketball, I've changed my mind after watching a couple games this year. The Iowa vs South Carolina was a blast to watch. Clark is amazing, a once in a generation type player. If you get a chance to watch the woman's championship game, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I just read up about it - she and the athletic department has an arrangement with one or more fashion designers for her to wear these outfits on the court side at games .The LSU coach has interesting outfits.
