Great read!

Thanks for sharing. For a white male that grew up in the suburbs, never really needing for anything, I can only process his situation intellectually, but never really understand. I appreciate him giving us a glimpse of his life.

Great read!

Although it needs to get better, I think objectively our nation is more open to mental health assistance than it was 10-15 years ago. I wonder what it would be like if his time was now, and he still needed to get his head right after burying his uncles basically back to back. I don’t think the nfl slows down for anyone, but I have to imagine it would at least be a tiny bit different now.

Psychologist here to chime in with 2 cents.

So many workplace cultures are like this in the US. Productivity, productivity, productivity is all there is at the bottom-line. There's little to no systemic support for low-middle class people to take care of themselves and their families (having a kid, childcare, eldercare, health emergencies, etc...). If these pieces were addressed in any meaningful way, I can imagine the stress levels in America (and tensions between differing viewpoints) would significantly lessen and hopefully my job won't be as needed.
