No we don't. The creator of that history is long gone. Many of us have buried ourselves in heavily spiked koolaid, and recruiting frenzies to forget whatever you mentioned. If Evan Turner could have the success he did his sr. year, then the team will find a way.

Just saw XRM visit to UCONN on hold. May relate to Uconn visit restrictions and Parker.

Can't link, but could be source of disrespect

Xavier Rathan-Mayes told me he had to postpone this week's visit to #UConn because he "just had to be at Huntington (Prep) this weekend."

Rathan-Mayes said he will "hopefully" still visit #UConn, and he still intends to announce his decision at an Oct. 13 home press conference.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes puts off this week's slated visit to #UConn: http://borgesblognhr.blogspot.com

@TheDaveDes Gotta admit, doesn't sound like a visit is likely to happen

MELTCON 5: The Aftermath

- UI loses the coin flip - Phil Luckett is nowhere in sight.

- Telep breaks the story four hours before the televised announcement, which had been set up by Telep, rendering it completely irrelevant. Jerry Angelo would call this "geniusness".

- Elated Irish fans swarm over Muffet McGraw's front lawn, hoping to catch a glimpse of their new hero.

- ND athletic department tweets for confused fans "Yes, we really do have a MENS' basketball team too."

- IL total meltdown averted - Illini Nation realizes this thread has been more fun than most of the games during the last few years.

- BTF stands his ground against the lunatic fringe of Illini Nation, avoids witness protection. No word on the health of Cubs204.

- Kendrick Nunn is still a stud. Malcom Hill is still a stud. Maverick Morgan is still a stud.

- Dayshon Smith, your uniform is ready.

- DJ apologizes for telling Telep before he tells the Illinois coaches, continuing a proud history of Indiana recruit disingenuousness. (ND fans, feel free to take a dictionary break here).

- Irish football fans wonder if DJ can return kicks. Kim Dunbar shops for lingerie.

- UI insiders begin tap their sources for info on XRM. Sixteen days to go . . . the boards move to MELTCON 4 . . .

Truly loving your spot on observations. Hilarious and brilliant! Tough break on the recruiting side of things but I'm glad my life and livelihood (or does it, productivity at work has been hampered) doesn't depend on the choice of a teenager. Also noticed that was post 777 for you, Clete. I feel like double rainbow guy...What does it mean? It's got to be a sign...

If UCONN is out... Is he going to decide between ILL and FSU?

Some kids just aren't a good match for your program and we'll leave it at that. You won't see a JR type situation under Groce.

Thanks for finding the tweets. Been hearing for the past week that it will likely come down to FSU vs. Illinois. Lets hope we don't finish 2nd again.

This has gotta be the best news of the day. IMO we have been 3rd on XRM's list. I haven't heard much as much about XRM lately which is understandable. If his list went from 3 to 2, that's huge.

I usually warn against trying to piece things together. But DJ commits to ND and on the same day XRM cancels his visit to UCONN. I know that FSU is still there, but this has to bode well for us. I know someone will think Kendrick's tweet relates to this, but Im not willing to believe that yet.

I'm not gonna pontificate (at this point in the game that's probably dangerous) but you gotta think playing for UI and the Deron link doesn't hurt us. We'll see. Amazing how many fans are finally coming back out of hibernation after the past several years of heartbreak.

Need to have a coach at all of XRM's open gyms (if it isn't a violation) leading up to Oct 13th.

As much as I hate to say it and you guys loathe hearing this (also not a groundbreaking thought) Groce might be finishing 2nd on all of his major recruits (sans Nunn) this year. XRM would be awesome, but FSU has the leg up in that race. Regardless, extremely impressive for Groce. I don't see this becoming a trend and this time next year I think we'll have loaned our cups to a few teams. Hopefully, some extremely gratifying nut punches handed out in the future ie Crean.

All you can ask for is a chance. Get in the top 2 and who knows what happens. I think notre Dame going to the ACC had an impact on DJ. You never know what happens and we could be the fallback if the not the top choice already.

If UConn ends up being out of it, I would guess we're behind FSU, naturally. Suppose Groce tries to sell XRM on having the keys to PG and working through mistakes. XRM is listed as a shooting guard. Can he realistically be expected to play point or is that trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

If Groce can truly develop PGs than why not. Plus we have Tracy who can play PG. We need ball handlers period.
