He also has Butler and Kstate at 13&14 so I don't validate his vote

This CBS ranking has Butler and Kstate at #14 and #12 respectively.

KState just beat #22 Oklahoma State and their losses are Gonzaga and Michigan. They're going to be in both polls this week.

I never said they didn't deserve to be ranked, they've easily earned the right to be ranked, I just don't think their recent wins justify such a large jump in the polls.

Nice to see us move up. Would of loved to have seen Temple pull off the upset on #6 Kansas today at the Fieldhouse!

Minny at #8 gives us another chance to beat another top 10 team, at least by this poll.

I don't get some of the computer rankings, I just checked out Sagarin, he has UI at 30. Yet, UI is 2-1 vs. top 25, 3-1 vs. top 50. Everyone else with a similar record is in the top 10. I guess the close wins against lower comp and the Purdue loss really hurt. Oh well, it is still early, and Sagarin will not determine this team's future.

I'm fine with Seth's ranking. I don't necessarily know if we're a top-10 team either, but I'm starting to believe it's possible.

This. I believe we were top 15-17 in Sagarin before that loss.

the only #s I'm concerned about is our win total and our NCAA seed

NCAA bball settles it on the court unike football.

yeah a good number next to our name on the ticker makes us feel all warm and fuzzy and hopefully recruits are paying attention, but if we stay in the top 15 all season and then go one and done in the tourney.

I am sure a number of us would feel a little hollow, even though that would be a season far above and beyond our preseason expectation and some of us would have sold our souls for a result like that preseason.

go illini

We currently stand at number 12 in the CBS RPI simulation. The RPI is what the NCAA selection committee consider most significant in tournament selection and seeding. We're fine as long as we keep winning.

What's more important is we have 3 top 50 RPI wins and the #15 SOS.

Sagarins ratings look especially useless.

He seems to compound mistakes, Illinois at #30 is pretty low, but he has #120 Purdue so that loss weighs heavily. So lets see another team nearby...

For comparison: #24 Belmont is 9-4 with losses to Northeastern (#175), VCU (#12) Kansas (#4) and UCF (#116) and they are 0-2 vs top 25, their biggest win is against #58 Stanford.

Next time I hear "Sagarin says..." I will then hear only a flushing sound. That is all.

We are #34 on Pomeroy, and Wisconsin is #18, 11-4. Not sure how that works.
GO ILLINI!

Sagarin hasn't updated yet. Still have us at 13-2.

As for Belmont, also beat #45 MTSU.
