Sources: Bolingbrook's Ben Moore headed to SMU

There haven't been many recruitments like the one Bolingbrook's Ben Moore just went through.

According to sources, the wild ride will end with a commitment to coach Larry Brown and SMU. The Moore commitment marks the second Chicago area product Brown and the Mustangs will have nabbed in the last week. Moore will join Proviso East star Sterling Brown in Dallas next year. Brown committed to SMU earlier this week.

If Colbert is off the board, I agree.

Could this mean Colbert might be leaning toward the Illini?

It could, but I wouldn't read into it too much. I believe we have seen our last commitment for the 13 class.

Eh, Ryan said we should know by mid week. I was thinking we would have him though. Oh well. Is the 2014 class going to be as exhausting to follow as the 2013?

Hopefully more exhausting meaning we had a good season and we are in the thick of it for KBD, Lyle and CA

I'm thinking the same thing. Would he really commit to SMU if an Illinois offer was still on the table?

If Colbert goes elsewhere, you can file this with another nutcup catagory miss.

For a depleted and rebuilding basketball program like SMU, a Chicago duo like Sterling Brown & Ben Moore in Year 1 is a nice kickstart

Colbert is coming (no clue) or Moore knows he'll be on the court a lot more for SMU (or he simply likes SMU better (chicks, out-or-state, big city, Larry Brown, mix & match)).

Moore probably wasn't going to help immediately. He's too skinny and as a 3-4, I'd much rather have a true PF (assuming KBD plays for us).

Bit of a surprise .... looks like Snacks is getting the job done for SMU. I hope this is the last year we have to worry about the likes of them with recruits. Illinois would represent a better product for these guys if were not for the performance unknown. A good season should erase any doubts for the future.

Yes way. On this board, he was considered to be wanting a offer from Illinois and I was told he was a Illinois lean. Unless, he was informed by Groce and company that there was no scholarship available, this is a nut kick.

C'mon! Don your cup if you must, but Moore is not in the same universe as DJax or the same ballpark as XRM.

Moore may end up being a nice player, but those guys (especially the PG WRT our squad) were game changers.

To be fair, if he wanted an offer from Illinois and the staff wouldn't accept a commitment until they knew whether or not Colbert was going to commit, I can't say that I would blame him and would definitely not say it's a nut kick. I don't think anyone wants to be Plan B.

I know rankings aren't 100% accurate, but I'm going to point to them to disagree with you on this.

Perhaps the fact that we weren't willing to take a commitment from him until we found out Colbert's decision made him take the bird in the hand?
