WAY too high. I love it, and I'll take it, and I know basketball rankings generally don't mean squat. But...still...WAY too high.

Kentucky still 19 lol. If Illinois had their record, we wouldn't get a single vote.

Big drop off, IMO between 10 and 11 in that poll. I tend to agree that 14 is too high, but we're not completely out of place among that second 10.

We aren't WAY too high right now. Will we be there at the end of the season? Highly doubtful. But RIGHT NOW, that's where we should be.

Very surprised Minnesota stayed at 21 in the coaches poll. They've looked as good, if not better than Illinois.

The Gonzaga game should get A LOT of press coverage next weekend with it being a top 15 match up. Lets hope we don't disappoint : )

Hard to get too excited about anything at this point in the season. The games with Gonzaga and Mizzou will give us a better idea of what we really have.
But I'd rather be 8-0 and No. 14 than 6-2 and not ranked. |

Wowzers. I shall enjoy this for now, as we all should! To be honest I have a strange feeling we might stay ranked all year. Total gut feeling but if we could beat the Zags we might get high enough so that we wouldn't fall out of the Top 25 after losses.

Agreed, and the Braggin' Rights game is looking to be a good one too.

Seriously? All our own fans can do is complain about how we arent as good as people think we are? We crack the top 15 and all you can do is discredit the teams accomplishments? SHUT UP! If all you can do is put down a team that has done nothing but achieve this year and talk about how we wont stay there and will drop because we are going to lose games, just go elsewhere. Go find a team you actually want to support. You should be complaining we arent ranked high enough. Regardless of record and who we have or have not played.

Even if we lose to Gonzaga, we have 2 cupcake games next Tuesday and Sunday so we should be able to move up a few spots that week as teams ahead of us will potentially lose.

To quote the bleacher guys in Major League "Too high...too high"
Not to say I don't like it...but to me that's way too high for us. Of course...it's still early and a lot of teams are dropping...but I just hope this teams feet are firmly planted on the ground and not looking. __________________ YOUR 2012 ILLINOIS LOYALTY FANTASY FOOTBALL CHAMPION !!!!!! |

Highest (AP) ranking since week 6 in 2010-2011, right before the UIC game. We were #12 that week. Before that, it was the final week of the 2005-2006 season, in which we were #13. Quite possible I may have missed one in there, but I don't think so.

First off,
Congratulations to our Seniors first and foremost. This is a huge accomplishment for them. I know they cracked the top 25 last year, but 13/14th in the nation is huge and just shows how hard they've worked. This is also a great testament to John Groce and I think this high ranking shows that the country is reality starting to take notice of how good of a coach he really is. I don't think this is too high at all, we are undefeated and have beaten some quality teams early in the year in some environments that have been a little uncomfortable. Let's keep this thing going! |

I chuckled a little bit seeing our ranking. Do I think we're possibly too high? Of course. But, as others have said we've beaten everyone on our schedule and regardless of quality of play at times there has to be something said for that.
Our cupboard wasn't exactly bare either. I think at times people forget what this team was supposed to do last year. We were projected to be an at large bid this time last year. There's no way were not a top 25 team right now. Very interested to see where we shake out by the time B1G play comes around. |

Wow! I didn't think we'd move up that much. We were the biggest gainer this week at +8 ... And in both polls, we are ranked 4th in the B1G ... Not bad for a team picked to be 9th in the conference pre-season! Good work guys ... I hope these rankings hold up for awhile.
