I've written all along it will be roughly an 8-man rotation in difficult games. That's how they've operated for 30-plus seasons. The 6 through 8 guys might change from game-to-game, matchup-to-matchup, but you'll see around that number in double-figure minutes. They used the bench against Gonzaga superbly. In a low-possession, Big Ten-like game such as St. Bonaventure, they wanted to have their better defenders on the court. That's partly why a scorer like Myke Henry didn't get any minutes. Not saying I agree with it, but that's why. If all else is equal, this coaching tree will always - always - lean toward defense. My question is this - Illinois hasn't looked better (or played a more entertaining brand of basketball) than it did against Gonzaga. And the Zags forced them out of the Big Ten mold and made them go. So I guess I'm not sure of the hesitancy to play that way more often.
