Interesting practice this afternoon. The way they've split it up -- first and fourth string on one squad, second and third string on the other squad -- means that a practice like this has zero starters on the field. The guys that are in position battles for a starting spot, like Tim Kynard and Justin Staples, and Earnest Thomas/Hull/Sanni, and Teddy Karras/whoever our left guard is for the day, are all on the Blue squad and all practicing together/competing for the spots. So this practice is mostly the backups battling their backups so they can hold their backup spot.

One one hand, that makes for a rather tepid practice. On the other hand, it allows guys to shine. Maybe catch the coach's eye. Maybe find themselves in a battle for a starting spot in a few weeks. So here's five guys who caught my eye this afternoon.
