I get it. I share the concern too. There will never be a perfect lineup. All rosters contain compromises. But ONE of them will be the compromise that wins it all. Envisioning that, from a new-built roster is where excellence lies. I want Coach Underwood to have that magical insight.

That does make me chuckle, the thought of Illini fans jumping like trout at tied flies. But I actually just think the Insiders(TM) are being generous. Like everyone else, I am grateful that they take the time to feed us.

NCAA could pay more than $2.7B to settle NIL suits, sources say

Going forward, is this going to likely apply for football and basketball athletes only or for all D1-3 NCAA athletes? Is Title IX going to come into play at some point? Maybe I'm completely lost here. (Nah, no way!)

I would guess very, very likely. It is a clearly-stated, and oft-expressed, strategy from our staff. Good point. I think Humdinger, Humalicious, Hum-baby! is Luke Goode on steroids. Markus's game was more like that of a mini-Jokic: footwork, mid-range, power, freethrows, pass.

I can hardly imagine how intense and driven the staff must be now as they seek to create a team from -- nearly -- scratch. What a challenge. Seems to me they are off to a very, very good start (the Boswell pickup, in particular) and that they have a long ways to go. This site is a fantastic one...

    NBA/Pro/International Basketball

I keep reading how mid-range jumpers, runners and such are statistically losing plays. But I think that is clearly imbecilic: it takes ALL kinds of shots to win, not ONLY threes, layup/dunks or freethrows. For example, mid-range shots by Jamal Murray have won game after game after game for the...

But in fact, power-ball in the paint is still important in the NBA. Sure, 3's are more important and so are slashing drives, but watching a guy like Jokic reveals the amazing combination of finesse and brute power he (for example) uses as part of his complete offensive game. Watching Chet...

I agree 100% that asking Coleman to play the 5 position defensively this past season was not a good way to showcase his defensive abilities. In my opinion, that was a roster-building flaw.

I believe Booth is transferring to Illinois in part to AVOID playing the 5-spot. Am I incorrect about that? Maybe so.

Excellent point. Of course, I am always pleased when Trent Frazier receives praise. Trent, then Ayo, and then so many guys on this past season's squad have laid a granite foundation for this program.
