I’m late to the party! Congrats Johnny! Great steal of a pick for Washington. A good situation for Johnny. He gets to reunite with Quan too. Too bad K. Smith didn’t stick in Washington.

With the 49th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Kris Jenkins, DT, Michigan.
Every time I’ve seen and heard this name the past couple years, I instantly think about the deep 3 Jenkins hit for Villanova to defeat UNC in the NCAA basketball championship. That was great to see UNC lose. That Kris Jenkins looked like he should be an NFL draftee.

This draft has been way too Michigany for me. Between the UM football team marching to the stage with their title trophy to former players yelling Go Blue...🤮

The father of Michigan Kris Jenkins is the Kris Jenkins that played for the Panthers and Jets in the 2000s.

Here's the NFL.com draft info on Adams:

Draft Projection
Rounds 3-4

Overview

Canadian import with junior college background who settled in as a two-year starter and 2023 team captain at Illinois. Adams' 2022 guard tape is important, as he's likely to end up back at guard after a season at right tackle in 2023. He's thick but athletic, with the ability to lead the action as a pulling blocker or finish drive blocks with authority when unlocking his power. The hands and feet lack cohesion, which sometimes plays into his problems with fitting up and staying connected to base blocks. Adams has the physical qualities to become better in protection, but his inability to protect his edges is a major concern. There are traits and talent for cultivation, but more development is needed.

Strengths

  • Possesses an enticing blend of girth and athleticism.
  • Able to get out of his stance and into pulling blocks with quickness.
  • Uses decent hand placement to help reinforce his natural strength.
  • Caves wash-down blocks on inside zone.
  • Displays the force and attitude teams look for as a block finisher.
  • Flashes some "dancing bear" tendencies with his mirror in pass pro.

Weaknesses

  • Has a hard time keeping blocks centered with footwork and positioning.
  • Slow to process assignment adjustments against moving fronts.
  • Hands and feet are still too disjointed getting into run blocks.
  • Lacks a direct punch to create early advantage in protection.
  • Fails to use his length effectively, creating soft edges.

Dane Brugler on The Athletic talking about Adams' tape at right tackle looking undraftable, but he's a plug and play Day 1 starter at guard.

Some more insight into the 2023 Illinois football season.

Here's the NFL.com draft info on Amegadjie:

Draft Projection
Round 3

Overview

With a rare blend of athletic traits and eye-popping length, it might be a mistake to bet against the high number of boxes Amegadjie checks. His hand usage is a work in progress, and he hasn't learned to consistently get into blocks with proper footwork and body control, but both issues are coachable and likely to be corrected. Provided he improves his punch-timing and placement, his ability to keep rushers at the end of his length could become a big advantage. Amegadjie already possesses impressive explosiveness as a drive blocker and could become a quality NFL starter once his tutelage is complete.

Strengths

  • Outstanding blend of size, athleticism and length.
  • Road-grading power to clear running lanes with leverage and force.
  • Light on his feet with the ability to get to challenging blocks in space.
  • Hands showed noticeable in-season improvement in pass protection.
  • Loose lower half provides foundation for NFL anchor strength.
  • Body control and lateral agility allow for consistent mirroring in pass pro.
  • Arms go on for days and will be some of the longest in the draft.
  • Displays impressive torque-and-turn power in his hips as base blocker.

Weaknesses

  • Acclimation to jump in competition level might take some time.
  • Still needs plenty of work with hand placement and punch timing.
  • Hasn't learned to reset hands and make the most of his length.
  • Average instincts in recognition of twists.
  • Lacking consistent footwork to square into initial contact with efficiency.
  • Feel for positioning and angles as a run blocker need work.
