I saw in the thread yesterday some insiders implying we were just waiting for the Chester announcement to move forward on the new hire. Any idea of a timeframe now that it has happened? Illini nation needs to know!

I believe that these jobs must be posted and may take several weeks to fill.... They had to wait until Chester was officially gone before they could move ahead.
There's really no rush...
Mike Boynton is the home run hire IMHO -if he doesn’t have a contract yet with UM as some have implied- he’s a defensive first coach who had OSU in the top 20 KenPom defense rankings three years in a row. Plus he can likely pull some transfer talent right now- Garrison and Battle come to mind
Plus he’s a top recruiter - look at the talent he pulled to OSU - he had a top 10 recruiting class last year with Garrison and others, got Cade Cunningham a few years ago, etc. Brad has brought him as an assistant to two other places with him so he knows Brads style already
Having said that- OA, Clark or Yaklich would all be great- in that order, but the need for a defensive coach and recruiting capabilities with transfers they can bring now make Boynton the Home Run

I was trying get an idea for the numbers and we were paying Chet just over 500k and OA made 900k last year so we probably would have to double the salary for the role to land him which I’m sure we are capable of.
