Have to start the second half with more intensity than Morehead.
With that, don't bring the starters out. Change it up. Maybe Dain, CoHawk, Damask, TSJ and DGL. Just mix up the looks.

I can't watch the game as I am at work. I glace over at the ESPN Gamecast every once in a while. Can anyone tell me why the Illini are not taking the ball inside more often? Except for Miles they are bigger and I would assume stronger than MSU. I see they are shooting 40% from behind the arc but with 16 points in the paint I would think they could feast in there. It's a little frustrating when it seems as if the 3 is their go to play many times. Only 15 seconds into a set and they are putting up a shot, missing and then going back on defense. It would be a little more tolerable if they had more offensive rebounds but they only have 4.
TSJ looked gassed. Other players are standing around the 3-pt line and mainly watching him and Domask. Very little cutting toward the basket.

The three is the CBB great equalizer just like Chuck said at half.

If Morehead St beats Illinois playing our pace and game? You tip your hat and start making tee times.

They have no bench. If they shoot 50% from 3 they'll keep it close. All we have to do is rebound the misses and it's lights out at the other end.

Don't slow down.

Probably tired from a half of carrying. Gotta get Domask more into this game.

11.5 point favorite and up one at half. Blah. Had a chance to separate but trademark sub-100 KP level Illini defense keeps teams into games.

I’m not surprised what I’m seeing from Morehead St. We’re a bit lucky their three point ace Thomas isn’t getting more looks but a bit unlucky that their point guard is converting so well. These mid majors with senior point guards, a go to guy, a secondary go to guy and good three point shooters are annoying for a reason. For god’s sake though, stop beating yourself with unforced turnovers and gambling for steals to give them open looks.
Domask with 6 assists isn't the problem

We are bigger and better athletes - get the ball inside.

too many 3s from shannon feels like....we've been here last couple of games and closed out

Open 3s aren't good shots when we gave better shot options available! We took 31 shots and 15 were threes. That is exactly what gives Morehead a chance. We feed the post and then 3s we win. They are small inside so feed the post!

Don't need to go inside to win this one. Lets make it a 3 pt contest. We are better shooters!

let's get Dain some tick. He had about 4 points in 2 minutes and their big is 0 threat to launch a 3. We can and should crush them at the rim

Kind of surprised by the gloom in here though. Morehead didn’t show me anything that’s got me worried. Overperformed on low percentage shots and can do next to nothing in the paint. Close out the 3 and it’s all good.
I'm not gloomy, I'm just nervous. We have a golden opportunity here with two winnable games to get to the Sweet Sixteen.

We have been a second-half team lately so I am confident, though.... confident but nervous...

PS. More Dain please as long as he is playing well

As always, it is all about effort with our team. Come out and give full effort or go home. Period. We are the more talented, better team. But our effort is inconsistent. First 4 minutes will probably tell the story.

Thank you. Isn't it BU's to motivate the players to move? Don't they have set plays?

Simple, we play 5 out and no one plays in the paint except for P and R plays and cutters who are covered well. We try to unclog the lane for drivers and booty ball. TSJr. has had a couple of 3 amazing drives and finishes as has Hawk. They are doubling MD and he has been slow to get anything and not forcing anything. Ty had some opportunities and missed and fumbled away the ball a couple of times. Q did nothing.

But the bench, with Goode, DD, and DGL have been our saviour and played very well. DGL is two for two from the arc...who'd a thunk it? Goode is 1 for 2 with 2 boards and no turns or fouls. DD is 2 for 2 with 4 boards and only 1 foul...no turns. TY and Q need to get going and we should be fine.

When this half starts, we have to keep Minix and Howard from going off. They will be firing away early...just like they started.

I thought we were good at chasing teams off the three point line. They’re getting open shots and worse, making them.

It wouldn't be if we took 9 or 10 3s and gave Dain those post looks vs undersized guys.
