Pitchers duel there in West Lafayette.

After all these years, I still can't abide aluminum bats. Just the sound irritates me: Ting! Can't they do something, insert a damper or something, to make it sound like a hardball on a Louisville Slugger?

Go Illini!

I think it will be.
The Illini will be a 3 seed if they make the tournament. That's the equivalent of like a 10 seed in basketball. The Big 10 is not a good baseball conference.

What a great achievement for this baseball team after such a rough start. Not matter what happens next, after the 5-10 start, becoming outright champion has got to be one of the greatest turn-arounds in Illinois sports history. And the memories from that experience will surely be treasured by the members of this team (and their families) for the rest of their lives. Deservedly so.

Heart felt Congratulations to this team.

Got nothing better to do this Sunday morning.

Technically, Nebraska is not hosting B1G tournament. Charles Schwab Field in Omaha is. Lincoln is some 60 miles from Omaha. Huskers play home games at Hawks Field in Lincoln. Gee, fine point. Bottom line: I agree, Nebraska is indeed the host.

By the way, a non sequitur: Gale Sayers, #40, Bears, my favorite, grew up in Omaha. The Kansas Comet.

The women's basketball team had a similar turn around this year, going from under .500 in pre season to winning a post season tournament.

Perseverence, baby!!

D1Baseball has updated their NCAA tournament projections today:

Illinois is effectively placed as the last #2 seed here, which is actually well clear of the cut line. Still would like to see them avoid an 0-2 tournament week to be sure, but their bid appears somewhat safe for the time being.

I know nothing, but have to ask, there are 64 teams in the NCAA Baseball Tournament??? Must be single game, or max 3 game series, right?
