And BOTH of them still proudly representing the Orange and Blue while at an airport about to travel. Really love these two portal transfers!
Just a reminder that there is no reason why any of the rest of us shouldn't wear the orange and blue and support the brand while traveling.
SO tired of seeing the maize and blue in every airport and love it when I see the orange and blue in far away places. Just do it!

That’s the way, @oskeewowwowboomtime. Just got back from Phoenix nine days ago and wore our Illini gear both ways on the plane and to the sports bar to watch the Final Four. Also wore it in Ireland last June and Sweden and Norway in August, plus on the plane both ways. Seeing more and more Illini doing the same, and most of them now answer I-N-I to my I-L-L!

Could not be more happy for Marcus! I have always thought that he was a great player, but turns out he is also a great guy! #notsurprised

My daughter a current freshman at the beloved ran into him and TJ at the airport. Knowing that I am a rabid Illinois fan and about to turn 50, she decided to put together an early birthday present for me, in that she asked them if they would wish me a happy birthday. Both gladly did! EDG’s

Saw Quincy and Marcus play today at Portsmouth Invitational. Quincy's team gave up a lead late and loss by 3. Quincy scored around 8-10 pts, missed on a power jam cutting to the lane. Marcus had around 11. His team had Horn from NCState and 2-3 similar guards, not much passing to Marcus. He did hit a late 3 to ice the game. He took pics with a few Illini fans after the game, class Act.

And you missed the chance to ask about his waiver?

If Coleman came back, would be get a clean up surgery on his knee? Or does he just need the couple months off to regain strength and then maintain 100%?

He was gracious to take photos, just told him "great game", I'll leave those questions to reporters. I will say Illini fans are different, in a good way..

Regret not seeing Quincy after the game, he seems like a class Act as well.

Many top tier college seniors from Big Ten were playing or in the gym.

Illini fans have a really bad habit of treating ourselves as uniquely unlucky and never looking at the bright side (this was SIGNIFICANTLY less of a problem when I was a kid pre-Groce years). We should be thinking how lucky we were that TSJ got to play again this season all things considered BEFORE such a rule existed.

For all of the unlucky things that have happened to this program, there are plenty of "lucky" things, as well. Underwood leaving a program like Oklahoma State for us while we were in the depths of the cellar, Ayo committing while we were still nothing as far as prestige, extra COVID years literally giving us a Big Ten championship in 2022, actually just in general the SUPER precarious way we beat Iowa to win that championship in 2022, Domask absolutely blowing up for us this year, etc.
I don't agree with your definition of "luck".

Maybe the return of Trent. The others definitely not.

It's really remarkable how many times circumstances related to our teams have led to major policy changes.

What all is on the list?

No home games in the NCAA tournament (Kentucky), instant replay in football (Michigan) and in basketball (Miami), suspension without due process (this situation), and what else? I feel like I'm missing one or two.
100%

And please pin this for the numerous optimists always asking why the pessimists / realists can't believe / hope / dream until the very end.

That damn Michigan game had FOUR incorrect turnover calls and every one went against us. Frosts me to this day.

With this new era of portaling... I'm curious as to what challenges/plans this amount of turnover brings to the staff? Luckily OA has some familiarity with everything but how do you bring in 8 new teammates, that have not played together, and get the offense installed, learn defensive assignments, evaluate the talent for what combos that will work? I would assume this will be a tremendous challenge for a staff to get a semi polished product on the court in October.

I have to believe this will settle down, honestly. I think if the NCAA's future were clearer/more stable as opposed to this game of musical chairs that is consolidating with the "Power Two Conferences," it might have already begun to stabilize. I do not believe you can allow players to transfer constantly in perpetuity, we are still just figuring this out. My uneducated guess would be that in 10 years or so, we simply have contracts being signed that keep players at a school for at least two seasons, less they forfeit some real money? Who knows, lol...

I would think continuing to have success like this year would eventually stabilize your roster as you bring in multi-year guys and improve high school commitments. It's one philosophy.

Shifting gears here a bit, do we have any insider hints about the schedule this year?? I cannot remember what has already been thrown out there.

- We get a return game in Champaign vs. Tennessee, right? Have to imagine that will be on a Saturday in early December.
- We know we have Braggin' Rights in St. Louis before Christmas.

Any tournament rumors? Yet another year at MSG?? The long-overdue return of the United Center game while students are on Christmas Break?!?!?!

I think the rumor is Emerald Coast Classic in Florida. They've also said the date for Tennessee game as December 14th in the original press release though it could always change.

Settled some already for the Illini with the three portal additions so far having multi-years of availability. Hope that it works out well for Chester, Sencire and Amani. Already has for Brad, Orlando and the Illini.

More importantly… When are they coming to the West Coast?!!!

Pretty sure that was the tourney we were scheduled for a few years ago but got canceled by Covid. I remember thinking about making the trip as my wife has family down there.

What an accomplishment that is! Unfortunately, unless we get Domask back, I don't see anyone even remotely close on our roster yet who can keep that mantle going. The good news is that Purdue will NOT win the conference again this year. They will be good but some of these other schools will overtake them. At least that is my humble opinion. Musselman is killing at USC and we all know how he can coach. Rutgers is not going to be a walk over either. Man a lot of teams are going to look so much different.

As you noted, we are still in collecting mode but did you see Marcus meeting this standard at this time last year? Not many people did. It is fun to see this team reconstitute itself and I am pretty sure they will once again make us all proud with Underwood making the stew.

This board is not nearly as excited for Kylan Boswell as it should be.

He really struggled at times last year, it's true. But he was awesome at other times, is a massive talent and absolutely an All-B1G candidate.

Replay in the last two minutes due to the out of bounds play that Maimi touched last and it should have been the Illini's ball in the Tourney.

I ran around the block totally nude when he committed. I ran so fast, no one actually saw me. That's how excited I got. He is a fantastic point guard!
