If can’t find a nearby place to stay, I might suggest checking out used car lots. At least back in 1980, not all car lots locked the car doors as a friend and I found out the day after Thanksgiving when we hitchhiked from Corvallis to Eugene and took refuge in two cars from a rain storm after drinking all night. I will warn you that you’ll get strange and somewhat horrified looks from people as you crawl out of the car onto the sidewalk very early the next morning.
LOL Now that is a visual!! I think things have changed a bit since then.

Haha, one of my favorite stories from my young adult days. At 18 in the service I would take a bus from Long Beach Naval Shipyard to San Pedro to visit my girlfriend. Missed the last bus home one night and wandered into a used car lot that had a small class C cabover motorhome. Door was open so I went in and fell asleep. Woke up the next morning to the door opening and the salesman setting foot inside saying, "And here we have a REALLY nice Dodge RV in mint........ (sees me)... Ummmm you know what, let's come back to this one in a moment." Lol, somewhat embarrassed I hightailed it out of there!!! I did get a decent nights sleep though!

Much better accommodations than we had. Though at least we each had our own car to sleep in. Wasn’t the case for spring break when that buddy and another slept in a Honda Accord (smaller back then and I’m 6-2 and one guy was 6-5) in a Dennys parking lot coming back from So Cal.

He had no QB. Jim Bennett bailed on us. The rebuild was coming once MW secured Jeff George. Oh what could have been.
If George had been eligible in '87, we probably would have won the Big 10 title. We tied MSU on the road and lost to OSU and UM by a combined 7 points. The defense that year was outstanding, as good or better than the '83 team, but we had no QB

He said he wouldn't name a guy until summer because it made no sense to have a new coach come in right before the spring game

there has to be a reason BB is taking so long to name this new coach. Getting a real good recruiter as well as an instructor is pretty important here
Hiring is one of the most critical decisions a manager or leader makes. Take your time and get it right because a mediocre hire creates a performance ceiling.

Not sure how connected Jeff is still but a few names thrown out there for possible DB coach. Out of those names, Josh Conklin has to be the biggest get but Melvin Rice and Ross Watson would be solid hires as well.

A Hen is gonna coach the corners from my understanding … Which is another Bret decision that I am in total agreement with … I want A Hen coaching the corners …

The new coach will coach safeties … I didn’t get a specific name from the staff but everything leads me to believe it could very well be Conklin which would be a home run hire … We’ve got the $$$ for him …

I know some (many?) don't like Johnson for their own reasons (writing style, personal, etc.). As for me, I find his info and especially stories interesting (assuming they are true).

Appreciate you and 0440 sharing info like this. I now live 650 miles from Champaign. You two help close that gap.

Anyone in the know, how does Saboor Karriem fit into next seasons DB rotation? With his size, he's one I've really wanted to see blossom because I believe size wise, he's very comparable to Spoon if I'm not mistaken. (Also, if he transferred and I missed it, it's safe to call me out on it, lol).

Turned River Rouge (MI) into an awesome program, was at Toledo the past two years. A little more unconventional than I expected. The big surprise to me was that Gibbs was heralded for his experience with a young group of defensive assistants. Now that Buh is gone and Gibbs left before the first game, they are reversing course and bringing in another younger coach.

I was expecting a veteran coach to come in and help guide Ahen
