Just saw a clip of BU storming the locker room shirtless with goggles and a water soaker. Best freakin coach! Maybe there someone out there who is a damn basketball Kung fu genius…. But Brad is the guy! Our guy! Ball movement against the traps was on point!

It's 1AM and I'm still going to need some supplement(s) to fall asleep within the next 30-60 minutes.

Absolutely incredible effort. That is the game that Iowa State wanted (or at least closer to what they wanted than what we wanted), while Shannon was really good - again - he was hampered with fouls, Domask struggled to score, the whole team was awful from the free throw line...

And still they won. I'm not going to predict a win against UCONN, but if UCONN were to lose during the tournament this is the team that'll be the reason.
Careful which “supplements “ you take !!!

Great game by the Illini. Whatever way to keep advancing now is all that matters. Really proud of our team, can't say enough. That is worth four knuckles of Buffalo Trace.

Yeah, stayed up to hear what they’d say. Spent 2 minutes and forty seconds on our game. What a joke.

Can we please talk about Luke Goode?

He was absolutely HUGE for us in this game. Not only the hustle plays but that 3 at the top of the key to go up 6 and then those 2 silky smooth free throws were massive. Major props to Luke tonight.

Good game, but we will need all of our players to play the entire game like we did in first half
Well, considering this Illini team is as well conditioned as any, IMHO we will never see that. The first half was played with an all out effort, focus, and energy. I have never seen a team sustain that kind of play for 2 hours. Not saying it can't happen...just not in my lifetime. But it was 20 min. of hell for ISU. That said, there were enough mental errors in the second half (and a few too many in the first) to allow them a chance to win, even though we out played them considerably.

What I will remember of this game 30 years from now if I've not yet shuffled off this mortal coil: three things only.

The sick ball movement early and the utter suffocation of the ISU offense.

TSJ's steal with just under 30 sec left. Coleman trailing him and literally flinging his entire body toward the inbound pass and nearly getting a steal, forcing ISU to use up at least 3-4 more precious seconds retrieving the ball and heading back up court. They listened to Brad about the marginal loose balls, didn't they?

Oh, the only other thing I'll remember is Dain stealing the ball at midcourt and dribbling behind his back directly into a turnover. At that exact moment on the adjacent monitor in the bar the Alabama-UNC game was nearing its end. After processing what I just witnessed of Dain, I looked over to see the 'Bama elephant mascot dancing during a TO.

There were parallels. :ROFLMAO:

That was such a heart thumper game and WE WON.........we punched them in the mouth at the start of the game and kept punching throughout the remainder of the game..............we heard ad nauseum about them having the # 1 defense in the country and how they were going to steal the ball or make us give up turnovers and get the win........NOT SO IDIOT PUNDITS........

The Illini showed that we can play a little defense ourselves as BU just said on the post game presser that we were in the top ten early on with our defense...........Let it be said that isu missed a ton of bunnies that used to be our affliction throughout the season.........

TSJ is a 1st team All American and anyone who didn't vote him for that needs to turn in their voting card.........29 more points tonight keeps his average high this tourney and the 3 pointer he hit after he came off the bench late in the game was an omen to me .....it told me his will was going to lead us to victory.........

Doc Domask played very heady tonight and didn't get trapped like I worried he would........the drive for the and 1 late was a killer as it seemed we had an answer for everything they threw at us......

Cohawk played great and hit a couple 3's when needed...........hit his FT's also......

Luke with a couple 3's and continued his good defense.........

Ty did a great job of bringing the ball up the court and getting it to the right players all game......

Quincy was good in the first half and then as has been in the past few games didn't get a lot of tick in the second half......

Dain was a whirling dervish tonite even getting a steal at half court and the....well you all know what happened........lol.....but he was very good on defense and had a big block in the paint......

DGL played good for the time he got.........

Cheers Illini Nation..........I believe the cyclones have lost their bluster and that # 1 D ranking.....your welcome........

The fact that we came out on top in a game where we were knocked off our game plan gives me hope in an odd way. We know what it is to struggle to a win and know we can do it again
Totally agree. And it looks like TSJ left the floor pissed off. As he should. He was robbed of his second half.

I hope he lights it up in the game against UConn and shows them what an All-American looks like.

Yes, Luke deserves a lot of credit. I’ve been a critic about him playing too much, but he was the right call tonight for sure.

Not to take anything away, and ISU had plenty of time to prepare, but it is a bit hard to scout ahead in the tournament and maybe teams outside of the B1G don’t have the scouting report to go after him on defense. Sure hope that’s the case against UConn because we are going to have to splash some threes.
