Can we please talk about Luke Goode?

He was absolutely HUGE for us in this game. Not only the hustle plays but that 3 at the top of the key to go up 6 and then those 2 silky smooth free throws were massive. Major props to Luke tonight.
Yes when he stole a pass at one end and then went down and hit a three at the other was a tremendous lift to the team.

Amazing ball movement by our offense this game.

Our defense is legit.

IA St made some good adjustments in the second half that caused some problems. And their strategy of just taking domasknout orbit almost worked. He made a h huge and-1 late and did a good job handling the ball all game. Love that he is such a complete player that can help the team in more ways than just scoring.

And if course

GOODE!!!!!!!!!!!!

So proud of our men. You can see they have a mission. Every win is a victory but there is still more they want to accomplish. They should be proud of what they’ve achieved, but I know the end goal is still awaiting them. This season has had its bumps but I never doubted that every player was bought into the goal.

I can’t get these Rage lyrics out of my head when I think of the intensity and drive I see from our players and coaching staff (while practicing chair etiquette)
“It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime. What better place than here, what better time than now?”

Whoever said score more than 70 and we win, give yourself a hearty pat on the back.

Congrats to our guys for showing a ton of resilience. TSJ with big plays. Domask was key. But for me the difference in this game was Coleman Hawkins consistently making good decisions under pressure.

Don’t want to take anything away from Iowa State, but feel like our bad free throw shooting and some questionable calls in the second half kept that close.
Hey that was me!

Who's still up? Just checking
I am, but I’m getting hammered. The vodka is going down pretty darn easily. My husband and I are toasting to VICTORY, Illinois, Varsity, as we listen to Deon & Brian and the panel on TNT. He’s drinking Drambuie in honor of his father, #33’s, favorite liquor. My heart has finally stopped pounding. I’m thrilled, exhilarated, and exhausted all at the same time. The Illini Women winning to go to the Final Four is the icing. It’s a great day to be an Illini…
P.S. Pearl makes me want to puke.

Looks like the ISU game plan was to shut down Marcus, who finished 2 of 11 from the field (but made all 3 of his FTs) and finished with 7 points. Got just enough from the rest of the team to win. We will need a solid bounce back game from the Doctor to hang with UConn, and also need to keep TSJ out of foul trouble. Fourteen missed free throws can't happen again either. UConn is beatable, but it will take our best effort.
Gotta give Iowa St credit. They are a Sweet defensive team. Fortunately for us they won’t be Elite. 😉
