Yes, Luke deserves a lot of credit. I’ve been a critic about him playing too much, but he was the right call tonight for sure.

Not to take anything away, and ISU had plenty of time to prepare, but it is a bit hard to scout ahead in the tournament and maybe teams outside of the B1G don’t have the scouting report to go after him on defense. Sure hope that’s the case against UConn because we are going to have to splash some threes.
It's about match-ups and being healthier. He's been able to defend the right opposing players.

the sleeper guys said this earlier in the week, but it’s true. Coleman is the second most decorated Illini men’s basketball player by regular season wins, conference wins, snd post season wins (BTT included). Second to Dee Brown. CoHawk is the definition of an every day guy. That’s my quarterback

I don't know if anyone caught this but when Domask had the 3 point play with about 5 minutes left it flashed to Shannon on the sideline celebrating and he just had this smirk on his face like he was was relieved the Illini held onto the lead while he had to sit and he knew he was about to shut the door when he came back in.

So, at what point will the media be forced to stop ignoring TSJ and acknowledge that he is one of the best, if not THE best player in the NCAA? Announcers calling games always acknowledge his abilities, but then he’s ignored by the studio talking heads and print media. ESPN wrote a summary of matchups just yesterday, stating that Marcus is the best player for Illinois, then rambled on with the “terrible” defense narrative, which is why we would lose to ISU. Just keep winning and proving them all wrong.

Jay Wright has been very complimentary of the Illini throughout the tourney. Tonight as well. Said how the Illini really showed him something when TSJ went down with his 4th and that we maintained our composure and the lead.
Someone said jay Wright called Daddy Brad and told him to use booty ball middle of the year. Did we ever get confirmation on that? If so, jay wright may be helping us chop film, too. Hire him as a special assistant for the next 10 days

Do we reckon this is because the in-game announcers have decided to disobey the directive to diss Illinois, or that the studio and print pundits for some reason have a bias that their colleagues doing the games do not?

I sat up watching the post game highlights and analysis that just ended. Am I being petty (I suppose merely posting this confirms that) or did Illinois get the least time of all the winners. Even Carolina got more air time in defeat than Illinois received. Other than them poking fun at Underwood for celebrating in the locker room shirtless and other than Davis saying Connecticut had better be ready for Illinois the attention was blatantly truncated. At least scumbag pearl had nothing to say about Illinois. I'm thinking that was by design.

Pearl is a repugnant POS and never fails to cause me to throw up in my mouth just a little but he certainly seems to be beloved by the other talking heads.

So proud of how this team fights. Great resilience. Not much going as expected and still too much for Iowa State. All the talk of how great the Cyclones D would be and we did it even better! Go Illini!
The Illini defense, in the first 20 min. of the game, was the difference. They had ISU shocked, almost unable to get off a shot, and certainly very few that were not rushed or off balance. That took elite, exceptional energy and effort that we have not seen from this team. Yes, they have made some great defensive plays and played solid D in other games, but nothing like I witnessed tonight. That energy and effort disappeared for awhile in the second half, until MD, TSJr., and Luke lit the spark again with 3 consecutive scores.

But I am not saying this is the level of effort and energy that should be expected for entire games. This Illini team is as well conditioned as any....and yet to play at warp speed for 40 min. over 2 hours is something no team does. What I am saying is that this game was won in the first half by going all out....and it was a level of play not seen before. Hit free throws, make layups, and throw the ball to a teammate and this game is won by 15+ and never close.

But one thing for sure, this is a great Illini team....and the FF is possible. TSJr. just might carry them all the way!!! Thanks to a great Illini team.
