I'm here to give it up to Luke Goode, again. That boy stayed ready. He had a rough stretch mid-season and in my eyes was a liability for a time there. The kid stayed with it and stayed ready. That is huge for everyone in the program to see. Huge for fans like myself to see. One thing I did notice about him when he was struggling, he was always a great teammate.

Titus opened his show talking about Illinois and seemingly has spent 20% of his on-air time pumping up the Illini over the last five years (RIP Titus and Tate).

Sleepers just put out a 35 minute video recap of last night’s game and have never hidden their love for the team and Brad specifically.

Field of 68 guys were great last night! (I don’t watch them often) Goodman straight picked Illinois to beat UCant.

All of these are on YouTube and most of it is on Spotify most likely.

Illinois is getting some great coverage out there. If you’re unhappy with media with more of a corporate responsibility than you can find alternatives. Or you can piss and moan.
Agree, though one slight correction: Goodman didn't pick us to win, but he did pick us to end UCONN's streak of double digit victories and thinks we're going to give them a game. Dauster and Fanta were shocked because they thought Goodman was saying we were going to win, but Goodman explained he doesn't think UCONN wins by 10+ but wins in a tight one.

Rewatching the game. In addition to dains lapse of thinking he was TSJ on his run to the basket, he also had the block under the basket that remained inbound but Dain just stood staring down the ISU player. Got to be locked in for next game. Can't have mental lapses

Simple solution: Don't watch the postgame shows on TRU/TBS/TNT/CBS.

I turned immediately over to BTN after the game ended, and the coverage was all about Illini in a positive way. Why do so many of us care about what the national media/talking heads think?

I agree with the sentiment above: ignore the crap and flip the channel to a more positive (and knowledgeable) set of analysts.

But I suspect the original complaint about unfavorable coverage of the Illini was in regard to a slightly different point, actually: consumption of Illini-unfavorable narratives by casual fans and ESPECIALLY by fans of other programs might leave a lasting, potentially unfair impression. Bad PR is the concern that was being expressed by the original poster, I suspect.

Gotcha, thanks for the correction. The red wine had been flowing at point.

I always see defense wins championships. Yet the past 8 champions have a higher AdjO rank than AdjD rank according to Kenpom. Only Houston and Tennessee are better on D then O left in the tourney.
makes sense to me - if you want to make a tourney run you need an elite offense that can react and respond to good defenses, obviously you can't have the worst defense in D1 but at the end of the game the team that gets more buckets wins.

lol, youtube recommended this to me. Oh how wrong he was. #ILL

Well, you know…like Van Gundy & Wright said it was the defense that made the difference: Illini Defense.
We didn’t give Iowa State a lot of second shot attempts and we cleared the boards and dictated tempo…especially early. That was ultimately/essentially what won us the game.

Kinda fun to look back on all these prognostications now in the past tense. 😆

When Brad has been asked about how he built this roster, he has said multiple times that he built this roster for March, and to win in March you have to score points. He's not pulling that idea out of thin air.

Look at the teams still left in the tournament on Kenpom:

AdjO: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 14, 19, 24, 30, 41
AdjD: 2, 3, 6, 15, 19, 20, 23, 33, 44, 75, 84, 104

Score points or go home.

For some unknown reason I read some of their board...those people need to get some help. Just really vile stuff and lots of "jokes" about the TSJ situation that proves they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Bunch of self-righteous A holes...
Those who are calling for Shannon to be "sat" are ignoring one thing. Brad can't do that. If he did, he'd be in contempt of a federal court's order, and I don't think the judge would take that very kindly. Judges are kind of picky about that sort of thing.

It was the most focused I’ve seen Hawkins be in a game. All business.

Everyone that played tonight contributed in some way. I’d prefer Dain choose to pass instead of playing PG on a steal, but we can’t have everything.
I let loose a few choice words when that happened, lol. But then after thinking a bit, I just laughed. Such a Dainja thing to do, haha. We cannot fault the young man for using the crazy skills he has for a big man. Can you imagine this dude if he keeps improving on his skills???? Dayyyuuuummmm!

Exactly my reaction to DD. He doesn't lack confidence for sure. A positive from this game in Marcus - he had a similar bad shooting night against Iowa on Feb 24th (also a win,) shooting 2-9 and scoring just 8 points (first single digit scoring night since Dec 9th.) He followed it up with lines of 22-7-5, 31-8-3, and 20-4-4. He shot 57% overall, 5-10 on 3s, and 12-13 on FTs. I expect he will be on a roll for the next three games too.

Geez…. One game at a time. Savor this. Give the guys credit for tonight. It been wayyyyy too long since we’ve been here. So proud of this team. Don’t knock them down because of the next game.
Exactly! While the team has already moved on from the ISU win and prepping for the UConn game, we as fans can savor this victory right up until tipoff tomorrow.... We deserve to be able to enjoy this win without fretting over our next opponent, lol !!!!
