Illinois 98, Nebraska 87 Postgame

Amen. Dude can coach.
Seems like the kind of guy who could stay at a place like NB and become God - even while the blue bloods keep coming after him.
With NB fan support for anything Red, that place will soon develop a Kohl Center reputation.
I still think he got a raw deal with Chicago. He was sold as bringing a modern offense to the org and then they gave him a team full of guys that couldnt shoot including a completely washed Wade.

It's definitely real, and I'm sure there was some factor. The big thing I have with Hoiberg's comments is that Nebraska also had a double-bye like Illinois had. If it would have been Wisconsin (3 games in 3 days) or a team that played on Wednesday, I'd understand it more. Nebraska and Illinois both played Friday and that's it. Illinois seemed to get stronger.

A coach will always say what's needed to protect his players, but if I were Fred I'd ask my S&C coach and training staff why Illinois seemed to get stronger as the game went on and his team seemed to wilt.

A: Illinois' steady performance at both ends from ~ 18:30 remaining simply wore them down.

Anyone know if there will be a replay anywhere? Had family obligations, unfortunately. I know on Youtube, they do show highlights, but I was hoping I'd see the whole game.
Well, if you are really desperate and willing to pony up $10 you can catch it on B1G+. I looked earlier today and it is listed there.

It would be better for my blood pressure if the Illini didn't play so streak-y.
Half the fun is watching the actual game. The other half is watching my friends panic, cheer, and stress. I think it took of them 30 minutes to calm down after the win. I love college basketball.

We don't talk enough about Shannon's defense. He's better than good. He's no prima donna, whatsoever. He digs it in on that end of the floor with consistent toughness. He anticipates the game, leaves his man when appropriate to double an open man and often blocks their shot. He didn't just score 40 pts, he also held the Japanese sharpshooter to 2-of-9 on threes. He's a load on both ends of the floor. It's a testament to his character.
I think this has been covered, perhaps ad nauseam, since the All-Big Ten defensive team was announced but I want to say it again, open the window and shout it out ("Network" reference for the youngsters out there), it is just criminal that TSJ (and Hawkins) were not on the All-Big Ten defensive team. Just a stunning, stupid, asinine omission.

Counter argument- our defense as a team hasnā€™t been very good. Hard to see how it could have two all big 10 defenders.

Counter-counter argument :) - I agree with you about team defense but how many times has TSJ locked onto an opposing player, oftentimes the best, or one of the best, or the best shooter, and just knocked him out? I mean, just look what he did to Tominaga and then also proceeded to knock down 40 points. Incredible. The selection should be based on individual performance, not team performance. Though, I understand and respect your point and you are probably right about not having 2 All-Big 10 defenders. But I think one of them should have made it. And there are some arguments for Hawkin's inclusion as well. Did you see that Twitter post by Dariush Takhtehchian (granted, I don't know how reputable he is) that said, "Not having Coleman Hawkins on this list [All-Big Ten Defense] invalidates this list"? He may just be a big fan but I think he still has a point.

I live in Madison, thinking about wearing my Shannon jersey to Church tomorrow. (These folks are famous for their church pregame jerseys). Hope the priest still gives me communion.

He won't stop with just communion. If things work out the right way for the Illini this season... they may make a full Saint out of you. Only takes a miracle or two, right? And with the way Shannon is playing right now... it won't even take a miracle to get this job done.

Seeing the Illini having success is many things... one of which is it feels GOOD. And it's fun. And you appreciate it even more after experiencing the darker times.

Thinking about this St. Patrickā€™s Day... St. Patrick was said to have driven the snakes out of Ireland. Well, in the spirit of the day... let the Fighting Illini drive the Badgers right out of the Big Ten Conference Championship game today.

And thatā€™s no Blarney.

Appreciate it. It's actually on Big Ten Network playing now. It's the "Basketball in 60" show.
Glad it is available especially for free. But just wanted to add, B1G+ has the full version (minus commercials, most time-outs, halftime stuff). But, again, it's 10 bucks.
