We have to get another WR if we lose out on him. We can't go with what we have right now. Not much production at all.

We really needed these DB gets this week. Instant instant upgrades. Size is worrisome, but he's feisty as hell and I really like him if we're able to get any pressure whatsoever on the QB. Between him and Brooks, if we can get pressure up the middle and force quick passes, I really like our chances of locking up opposing receivers and laying the lumber. Now it all comes down to the DTs. If we can get some quality filling those holes, I think we really might surprise some people next season. This week in recruiting has really turned next season around from looking like a possible disaster to a far more optimistic outlook. All credit to the staff right now- they've beyond killed it this week.

I’m not worried about size if he’s not scared to put his face in there and hit someone. If we can add Meyer to this class it would be impressive.

That was about Gentle.

Was it? Looks like his tweet was two days after the Gentle commitment. Maybe the language implies he just missed tweeting beforehand and wanted to note it.

Feel like our real remaining position of need is WR. We need 1 more guy and that 1 guy needs to be a quality guy imo - a Franklin level guy. That might be too much of an ask...because if Franklin is truly not working out, we probably won't be able to get a guy like that...but that's the need imo.

If he tears it up at a place like Washington...dang...that's gonna be a TOUGH watch.

Any idea who are our plan B guys currently at WR?

I would be shocked if Franklin had his Ole Miss experience and decides to seek out a pure NIL situation over a known relationship. Seeing some folks talking about courses. Ole Miss has been done with Spring 2024 for almost three weeks, so it's either (a) Franklin is still considering his NIL payout options and is fine waiting, or (b) the staff didn't know he was short of graduating as of a couple weeks ago?

We are so late in the transfer portal process that i don't think it's possible to find another WR option. Basically, i think we are screwed at that position for a year. We better hope someone steps up.

How do you figure? Nice to have freak athletes at receiver, at least one particularly fast one to keep ‘em honest, but overall knowing where and when to be with a qb that knows the same goes a long way (context is goal of being a 6-6 or so team).

Is it well established that athletically they’re just not great, and other defenses can just play man and take away passing game? Anything a solid run game can’t help mitigate?

How much production did we get out of the WR spot beyond IW and Washington? We need an experienced WR to pick up the slack. I wasn't overly impressed with the Spring game at WR. We need more help.

I mean, at some point those guys weren’t experienced either, and spring games can’t be taken as a 1:1 comparison of actual games. I haven’t seen any film, so asking if they just are actually not very good. Things like running bad routes, can’t get in and out of breaks quickly, just flat out slow, stone hands etc… would be indicative of that. Not putting up yardage in a spring game is not very indicative in my opinion.

If on film they can do things like some of the aforementioned well, you’d see that even if ball wasn’t thrown their way. Also would mean they ain’t bad.
