Illini -9 for the day? No team really close. You pretty much demolished the field, and I couldn't be more pleased - and kind of surprised. But sports are full of adventure and suspense. Illini: you made my day. Congratulations all! On to Californey.
I meant Carlsbad, Californey. Please excuse mistake; I was elated big time.

Go ILL-

Five of the top 10 teams (ASU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Washington, Alabama) failed to advance to the championships. Assuming the Illini climb in the polls with the win, they should be in the top 10 for seeding next weekend.

For the rest of the B10, Purdue and Ohio State also advanced to the championships. None of next year's newcomers qualified. Also Minnesota's Ben Warian, who finished T2 behind Max, will compete as an individual next weekend.
I could be wrong but I believe the seeding for the match play is based on the results of the 72 holes of stroke. I don't think rankings come into play in the Championship portion.

They play 54 holes of stroke play and then cut to 15 teams. Then, they play another 18 holes and cut to 8 teams for match play.

That's correct, I think what the OP was referencing is that seeding is used for some of the pairings & tee times in stroke play, so it can have a minor effect. IIRC that's the case for the first three rounds, so the top seeded teams generally get 2 days of better tee times vs. 1 day for the lower seeds. Does anyone remember if that's correct? At some point it switches to being based on the standings.

First two rounds are fixed. Play with the same teams the first two days. You will get one early tee time and one afternoon tee time. After two rounds they re pair. Best scores go out earliest.
By the time you get to the fourth round there are only 15 teams so everyone plays in the same wave.

Good article on the La Costa course in Carlsbad, CA. The course was a PGA Tour mainstay for nearly 40 years, but recently underwent a massive renovation - the NCAA Women's Championship was the first golf played on the new layout. Today is the final day of match play for the women, so the men only get one full day to practice on the North Course before Friday's start. Nobody has played it before, and it's a long course at over 7500 yards. But the weather should be perfect, topping out at around 70 each day (much better than Arizona).

The Championship will be in Carlsbad for the next three years, but the course is bidding to make it a permanent fixture similar to Omaha for the College World Series.

The weather in Southern California is nice?! Shocker.

Still haven’t seen tee times posted anywhere but the Illini should be in the afternoon wave on Friday and the morning on Saturday.
I would say paired with Florida and Arizona starting around 1:00 on day 1. Starting around 8:00 on day 2.

Am I reading the list right that there are no SoCal teams in the championships this year? That seems like a good thing given the location - nobody's playing a home or "semi-home" course this year.

For having won their regional, Illini are seeded and ranked fairly low right before NCAA Championship (seeded 11, ranked 16 according to https://fightingillini.com/news/202...d-illini-ready-for-ncaa-championship-run.aspx).
Sounds about right I would say. This team has had some great results but has lacked consistency. Hopefully the team that showed up at regionals sticks around for another week. Get to match play. That’s all that matters now.
You need to be in the early tee time wave on day three, which is top 15.

Correct which is funny because 3 of the top 8 schools in women’s ncaa tournament were ucla Stanford usc. Stanford won over ucla

Same lineups as the regional. Let’s do this boys! Tee off in 3 hours or so I think? We get one of the later tee times today so early tomorrow.
