I'd get over it if he can help me win.

Yuri Collins, Jaden Schutt, and Tristan daSilva would be a pretty good set of transfers.

While it seems unlikely Schutt will be an Illini, I just don't see a lot of strong shooters on the transfer market. I believe Kerwin Walton might have been brought up as a possible transfer. That would work over Schutt, but I'd rather have a guy with more eligibility.

And btw I have no knowledge of any of these guys even being a possibility. Just going through teams stats and making a wishlist.
I can’t get excited by a player who got 7 mins a game on an ordinary team. Can he play defense, is he a pg, what is his role other than a shooter. Is he really any better than Epps?

I’m sure this has been asked before and I probably missed it but is there any chance Hawkins decides to return next year for his senior season?
It sounds like there is a fair to partly cloudy chance. He will most likely declare for the draft; then make a final decision based on the feedback he receives.

Hope it’s better feedback than kofi received. Hawkins needs a good senior season

Cole Certa will be coming to Champaign for the state 2A Final Four. It's funny he must not be a highlight guy because I rarely see his plays on the news but Central Catholic highlights pretty much always end with and Cole Certa led all scorers with 27 or 31, etc. The IHSA website will have his teams season totals posted for the weekend to see his stats.

Phoenix Gill will also be headed down to play Simeon in their Final 4 matchup in 3A.

One of my buddies, who is sadly a Purdue grad, keeps going on and on about Kanon Catchings. Every time we talk, he has to mention Kanon Catchings.

His mom is Tauja Catching who was an All Big Ten 1st team player for the Illini. His aunt is Tamika Catchings who was a star at Tennessee and WNBA. I believe his dad is also an Illinois grad. His grandpa played in the NBA.

Saw in an article that he visited Illinois, but I don't believe we ever offered and I don't remember ever seeing a single post about this kid on here. Looks like he was just rated a 5 star #17 in the class by 247. Is this a recruiting miss by the staff, a kid who blew up, and greatly exceeded expectations, or just a kid who's good not great?

We offered and he visited a handful of times ... Was down to us and Purdue ... Know the kid and the family very well ...

He wanted to go to Purdue, and I can't blame the kid for doing what he wanted and not stringing coaches along throughout the process ... Made his decision early and wish him nothing but the best ...

Kanon is a no doubt 5 star ... His recruitment just went quick and under the radar because he was only really interested in 2 schools lol ...

Gonna be a real good one for Paint ... Paint always makes sure to bring Kanon up when we catch up ... He knows how bad I wanted him at Illinois lol ...

What’s Melendez going to do? Seemed earlier this season when he was struggling it was implied he wouldn’t be back…he’s since shown some life and the staff has stuck with him.

I feel like he’s a guy who could really make a jump next year…would like to see him stick around

It is weird to me to think about really anyone on the team right now transferring. RJ was in a dark place for a while but like others have said the staff really stuck with him. Don't really want to lose any of these guys, so preparing for the inevitable gut punch when it happens.

The new college basketball makes me kind of sad sometimes.

I feel the same. The days of watching a team come together as freshmen, then leave together as seniors is over. You start viewing these guys as part of the family. That's no longer the case. You always want kids to be happy, but the off-season has become a full fledge free agency and it takes away from the personality of the team and the bond with the fans/fellow students.

IMO - If he has a good summer, it's either take him during the summer OR watch another Big Ten team take him and then have to deal with him torching us for 4 years ... 🤷‍♂️

He had 27 tonight. He's got to be averaging over 20 ppg. I think he can be a more athletic Sean Harrington. He's listed at 6'4" 165. I think he's got a frame to hold quite a bit more weight. I think he could get up to 185 before he's an upperclassmen.

But if he can come close to Harringtons career 43% 3 pt shooting and not be a defensive liability, after the shooting I've seen this season, sign the kid up.

Sometimes I really wonder who our insiders are and how they got so deep inside

Thank you! I'm not sure how targeting players who couldn't make it on teams we aspire to be better than makes any sense. It's not like Duke is having a banner year.

Podz couldn't get off our bench and he's done ok for Santa Clara. Sure he wouldn't be doing as well in a power league but point being some guys just need a different venue and some guys develop differently.

Jake Grandison started for us for 2 seasons, and I didn't see him at all in the 2nd half of the Duke/UNC game last weekend.

By that logic, Dain can't help us, because he "couldn't make it" on Baylor.

I don’t get why this is the perception by a lot of people around Duke right now…
Krzyzewski has had worse seasons than this after all…unless you mean banner in the sense of the lofty heights of Duke…but it ain’t over yet.

I cant believe I’m defending Duke yet again.

In addition to putting together a pretty respectable season in Scheyer’s first season at the helm…they’re sitting at 23 wins NOW and they are picked to win their conference tournament. That’s not too shabby.
