I'd never do that.

The whole point is how many underestimated how good those guys you mention would eventually become. And, thus, underestimating how good the next set of guys will be.
I get your point, and it is well-worth making.

However, not realizing how good a tiny number of players could become (in only one year) does not necessarily predict that a subsequent tiny number of players will turn out to become equally good.

Lots of people were under-estimating how good they were last April...

How about we let the Chefs finish cooking before we complain about the meal.

Nobody was underestimating Shannon and Hawkins. We were lucky to get them back because they could have easily stayed in the Draft last year.

Domask for sure nobody knew how good he would be.

I think Guerrier gave the team exactly what people thought he’d give them.

If you don’t get Storr, you better hope Boswell is at least as good as McCamey.

Some folks want to discuss the roster as it is evolving. To me, that seems like a fine topic for this message board.

So please hold forth, fellas. I for one (maybe the only one, lol) find it both informative and interesting.

The thing is, if we have Boswell, Maddox and DGL on one end and Morez, Hansberry and Booth (who seems like the LEAST true center of our possible options) on the other end, whatever our concerns may be, not being able to create actual basketball lineups won't be one of them, which was an issue in 22/23 and a crisis in 23/24.

No one was saying we didn't have the overall horses in either of those years. Nor should they next year even without Storr.

But without Storr for us to be making national noise good, we would need a guy or two to blow up who we aren't currently counting on to do so.
I agree. To be a real contender you need someone who makes the other team have to gameplan differently than they necessarily want to. You need a guy or two that gets the other team pre-occupied with whatever they are doing and bends the defense in a way that can be exploited. In recent years, Kofi and Ayo gave us two of those guys. Marcus and TJ did last year.

Storr is one of those guys. If not him, we will need someone similar, or significant development from others. (I don't know enough about Maddox's game to speculate if he is already one of those guys at the B1G level.)

If we don't get Storr, Otega Oweh seems the next obvious choice, but if you can't get him for whatever reason, does anyone think at that point it makes more sense to look for another stretch big and just roll with Tre White, Ty, Goode, and kinda sorta Sencire as your wings?

Dumb analogy I can't resist.

The proposed lineup for next year without Storr would be a sundae missing its cherry on top.

Last year's lineup without RayJ was a sundae missing a spoon.

Wrong about least true center,Booth is best option for 5-out offense BU wants to deploy.Think of Morez as down low option.

Booth certainly looks the part.

Production is really low though. He’s a 6’10 guy that shot 30% on 3s on a lot of volume (35-118) last year. All he does is shoot 3s but shoots them poorly. Doesn’t pass (0.5 assts in 20 mpg). Doesn’t rebound or block shots. 63% on FTs. He needs a lot of work

Have we cooled on Hill? He always seemed like a 2nd tier option, but sounded like a guy who would commit here given the chance.

With the rumors on the $$ ask for Storr, why is Johnell Davis not high on the Illini's want list? His shooting (on 2s, 3s, and Fts,) rebounding, assists, and steals are all better than Storr. Davis does give up 2" (6'4" to 6'6",) but it doesn't seem to be a problem, as he is 7.8-5.5/40" ahead of Storr. Is his ask even higher than Storr?

Guessing he's Michigan-bound. Same for Small. (And probably Goldin.)

Can't imagine that's Wolf then. He won't be that expensive (IMHO). Maybe Raynaud? Also, if it's just Boswell, Storr, and a big, that eliminates Maddox. Not sure I like that. Next year's team could use more reliable outside shooters.
I won’t be surprised if we go over by 1. Maddox is not out of the loop by far. And if Storr wants to keep pushing for his $$$ we’ll move on. I just know there’s a push to get this done. And the Stanford kid is our number 1 center right now. Heard there is a visit coming. Someone else said they saw him in the building but he’s not reliable and I think he’s delusional. Lol

We are definitely in contact with Davis.
