Get Domask and CoHawk back, and I'll sign on as a fan this season.

As long as they can match the NIL deal Arkansas has offered me.
Where should I send my 2 cents?

I never want to speak bad about one of our players but the whole Sencire Harris transfer portal really irks me. It feels like he used Illinois to better his own game and become a stronger player. He used our athletic training staff to improve himself physically. Then, he turns around and bolts because of a difference in philosophy between Frazier and Underwood? If this was really about play time, then he should've transferred out after last season. It just feels like he used the program for his own gains when his motivations were to possibly bolt. He was a great contributor in practice and I don't want to diminish what he did to help this year's team out behind the scenes but it just feels like he used the program and then ran out of town. Is this really about an assistant coach leaving? Last time I looked, doesn't the head coach matter in this whole thing too? Do you come to a school to play for an assistant coach or do you come for more than that? Sencire has been in this program for two years now so I would hope this goes beyond Chester Frazier. It's frustrating to see the time that someone like Fletch put into this kid to find him leaving town over nonsense
If Sencire used the University of Illinois, a university that I love and hold degrees from I would say "Great Job Sencere and I wish you would have stayed. I wish you the best at your next program". Sencire I believed would have stayed in he had a route towards playing time. With questionable options, I don't blame him. Sitting on the bench and working your butt off is very mentally draining and demoralizing. But I'm glad that the university supported him and developed him, and glad he took advantages of the opportunity.

I don't think his departure is about lack of playing time. If that was the issue, he would've put his name in the transfer portal on the same day as Dainja did. No need to wait another couple of weeks. I think this has more to do with Chester Frazier's departure which is pure silliness

Like the saying goes, I don't have to be faster than the Bear I need to be faster than you. So with Booth, he just needs to be better than our next best option. Amani has great potential but was not healthy in year one, so unproven and unhealthy are not to great attributes as the next starting 4.

Regarding Booth, his father Calvin topped off at 6-11 and had a 10+ NBA career. I think Booth, Rez and Amani could form an effective rotation at the 4-5 to compete against 85-90% of the teams. But it is the 7 footers that caused us problems last year, so I believe BU wants a 7 footer to compete against those dudes and then play smaller when he can. Considering BU sometimes plays a shooter at the 4 (Goode, Tre White) possibly not enough room for Amani.

Heard some murmurs that Storr is not being actively recruited by the Illinois staff as of today... not sure if that is accurate or not but perhaps an insider can add their two cents
I'm coming around to the approach Self used with Storr at the beginning of the portal period ... made a fair market take it or leave it offer, and then moved on to other targets when he didn't get a commitment.

There's always going to be some program with some money and a gap they need to fill in their lineup at the end of the portal season, so waiting around on someone is pointless because you'll get outbid at the last minute or you'll overpay ... and in both of those results, you'd probably have been better off going after the other names on your target list.

Anybody have Jaden Schutt is in the portal on their bingo card?
Makes sense. He's going to be buried on the bench at Duke by their never ending rotation of 5 stars.

Honestly never made sense for him to commit there imo. I wasn't super high on him coming out of high school but he could definitely go to an Iowa type school and play immediately.

Booth isn't a rim protector to be clear, he's purely a stretch four - I see him filling the Guerrier role from this year more than anything - spot up three with some pick and pop/roll with some decent rebounding. He doesn't have a low post game, but does have athleticism to be in the dunker spot on Boswell drives, I think Kylan will make him more effective than he was at ND
I don't know if you understand the definition of rim protector. He's 6'10, has long arms, and is vertically explosive. Those are all the necessary traits to be able to challenge shots at the rim.

Yes, he's thin and not the type that will hold up to strong bigs down low but that doesnt mean he can't provide rim protection(Matt Mayer did it playing on the perimeter). Would love to see them target a true 5 next to him(would have liked Aaron Bradshaw).

Werner and Piper essentially said on their podcast today that when he made the decision to redshirt the staff thought he would be leaving. It says something about him to stay, work the whole year, and give effort on the practice squad.
I also heard that he offered to burn his "redshirt" year when TJ was suspended. Brad told him not to waste the year of eligibility. I think that there was a chance before much of the portal "cooking" happened that Buck was strongly considering staying. After player meetings, Coach Frazier leaving, and seeing what Illinois was trying to get in the portal, he decided that he could have a bigger role elsewhere.

So Nico is staying then, I take it? For some reason I kind of just always assumed he would want to look for more playing time somewhere else.
I figured he would transfer down a level where he could play immediately but I like him sticking around. I genuinely think he could be a good piece in a year or 2.

Definitely needs to add weight and get stronger to hold up on the defensive end buts he is skilled offensively. Very smooth shot, plays in control, looked pretty good in very limited minutes.

Could contribute as a jr and sr imo.

Don't necessarily think his opinion matters but he's been around the game along time and has been broadcasting for 20+ years and works for the Big ten network.

He very well might know some people whose opinions would matter in the subject.
Agree. Huge Bardo supporter here, and big time fan of all Fighting Illini alumni.

Plus --- he certainly has more contacts and inside information than 99% of us on here. View his opinion as one piece of data, among 19-20 that we'll see here between now and the ultimate decision handed down by the NCAA.

put your best offer on the table, if they don't take it, fine, move on (we're not gonna wait for anyone again). FWLIW, I'm more than good with it.

Booth shot under 30% from 3 on 118 shots. A very high volume. This guy is not a good shooter and he doesn’t do anything else.

A 6’10 guy that only shoots 3s, and does nothing else on the floor. He need a ton of work.

Not a fan of this pickup at all.

20 mpg, 0.5 assists. Doesn’t create anything.

61% of his shots were 3s. No offensive rebounding put backs here.

The stats tell you what this guy is.
He’s Michael Finke. Don’t get caught projecting athleticism and ignoring production
If only there was any history of players improving after their freshman year. That’d be wild. Shame there isn’t.

Derek Piper. Book it 😀😀😀😀 hopefully can be rim protector as a stretch 5 or 4. Brad is killing it in the portal. KY may have made major mistake not going after him. Thank goodness they are stuck w Pope for at least 3 years.
Wait is allowed to discuss Illini Inquire need and rumors or should we assign it to one of the "insiders" in here. One of them said an announcement within the next couple days so let's pretend he gets the credit and Piper got it from him
