Morez Johnson Jr. Nike Hoop Summit stats
- 12 min 8 pts 4 reb 2-4 ft 20+/-

He was tied for the highest plus minus. I think he will make a big impact just doing the right things. Seems like he just makes teams better.
Seems like a leader too from small clips I've seen. Hard nose player with athleticism and maybe enough shooting touch to not be a paint clogger all the time.

It might be better just to recruit mid level recruits because top recruits will enter portal anyway, mid recruits might stay 4 years and develop, and then just use the transfer portal for your starters

Has the feel to be different than 23-24. I know Booth, Boswell, and Davis are potential multi-year guys. I think White is also a multi year guy. IMO 24-25 will be very talented but younger.

With 3 open spots - right now only Goode is done at the end of the next year.
One other aspect to portal turnover that I haven't seen mentioned (although I'm sure it HAS been mentioned, I just haven't seen it) is we now have the ability to cut our losses with players that turn out to not be good fits. Obviously Epps and Clark are recent examples. In the old system, they would be much more incentivized to stick around 3 more years despite not wanting to, and Brad would be stuck trying to manage a team and locker room that's likely just not conducive to healthy and productive teams.

Booth is undoubtedly intriguing...that dude has NBA length. Has all the physical tools. I think our fast paced offense is where he'd thrive, so the fit makes sense. Step 1 is get the kid on the Tisdale diet and put 25lbs on him. IF the kid can improve his shot and learn how to play in transition, he'll be a really tough mismatch

what's going on with AJ Storr? Haven't heard anything since the crystal ball in early April - his girlfriend committed to Kansas?

What percentage chance to commit would you give him Indy?

I like our chances much better after the visit than I did before ... They were blown away by our facility ... Dad had nothing but fantastic things to say about the visit ... TA really connected with the family ... And Brad made it VERY known how much he was NEEDED here ... Not wanted ...

I also think the fact that Desmond Claude still has not entered the portal changes the Maddox recruitment for Sean and Xavier ... They definitely wanted Claude back but they were planning on him being gone by what they were told post season ...

So then they actively were pursuing 2 starting guards (Maddox and Conwell) because they were planning on having 2 starting spots ... Well, it sounds like Claude may stay now so that leaves 1 starting spot and a lot less NIL than they originally planned on being available because of the NIL Claude commands ...

All of that to say ... I think Xavier only takes 1 guard of Conwell and Maddox .... And I think Conwell winds up being the guy for Xavier ...

Which leaves us in a pretty dang good spot ...

With a Domask waiver and Hawkins return, does that upset/cause issues to any one committing to this team? I know Brad will put the best out on the floor, but if those two return, along with a Maddox commit, expectations should be sky high correct and very very good depth?

I do not expect Hawkins to return ... Domask has applied for a waiver and hired legal counsel ... We will make room if he is granted a waiver and as I have stated many times, we have individuals who will handle his NIL so that Brad and staff can recruit without having to worry about holding back $$ for him ...

I think adding Maddox ... Getting Domask back ... And adding a 5 ...

Expectations would be and should be just as high as they were last year ...

It seems to me that we now need Storr more than ever. I like the transfer guys we've got coming (esp. White) but I have to wonder who else is going to be an impact player. It looks like Booth will need to add muscle and strength, along with Jakstys. In addition to White, Boswell should make an impact immediately. And speaking of White, it looks like the Louisville program is in the toilet. Never thought I'd see that.
