We got 6 ppg from our PG and we will get double that from boswell at the very least. 9 PPG from Gurriere at the 4... Which I think Booth can top (or should). And our 6th man Harmon averaged a whopping 5 points. Tre White/DGL/morez/Goode are all going to score more than that this year. It will most likely be more spread out than last year but if we don't get Storr we should be alright.

Luke was able to score more when Terrance was out. If PG feeds him or Brad calls plays for him he is a good enough shooter to average double digits. JMO I think Luke was too unselfish last year.

If you sort that by average ranking score it tells a different story. West Virginia had 9 kids in the transfer portal but they were pretty lowly ranked kids so they didnt move the needle last year.

I'm not saying it's the end all be all but I'm saying that there is a strong correlation while you feel the correlation is rather weak.

Let's just agree to disagree how meaningful rankings are.
Looking at average ranking score still leaves you with Kansas State, Villanova, Arkansas, Ole Miss, some teams that were already good and didn't have many holes to fill, and the teams I already mentioned.

Yes, there's some correlation, but not strong enough to worry about.

Like I said, when the low-ranked guys have also had just average results, then I worry. But when they've already shown they're good players, I don't. Similarly with the highly ranked guys- if they're supposed to be really good but haven't done much yet (cough Storr cough cough), then I worry they'll eat up our NIL money and hog the ball without winning us any games.

A small part of me is in this camp too. We have a really, really good player with Boswell, but then a lot of role players and/or pieces that still need to be developed. The amount of production out of those guys is always a wait and find out approach. I'd put Maddox in that category as well. We seem to be chasing a guy that we won't really be sure of what we're getting(if gotten)

If we don't get at least two PROVEN scorers at the high D1 level....this sure feels like a low floor/solid ceiling group.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we're going to see some high profile guys coming our way.
me too.

I'd rather be at Allerton
I heard the Bonneville crapped out and Domask has a newer whip. At one point I was an owner of a Pontiac Grand Prix of the same era, I feel the pain.
Man, those late 1990s and early 2000s Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles had absolutely ruthless engines. I've owned two other V6s since then (I've got a turbo Outback Wilderness that can hold its own) and while my Nissan Maxima probably had the best horsepower and drive of anything I've had the pleasure of...steering...my Oldsmobile Intrigue could RUMBLE, man.

I am not a mechanic (IANAM), but it sounds like you had a hole in your muffler. 😂

I think getting Storr is critical, or at least someone else with that scoring talent. To be an elite again we need someone who can turn around a game by themselves like TSJ, Ayo, and Kofi could.
Storr himself wasn't that kind of player last year. He is being a bit overrated by this process, he's really good, but his skills are all the flashy and obvious ones, he's not a complete two-way player.

We do need a scorer still. That is true. But buckets are the most plentiful resource available in the portal.

I wouldn't trade Boswell for Storr. Higher ceiling, very possibly just a better player period, and would be much more difficult to replace what he brings.

If a rebuild means top 10 ranking in the country...sure.

An enormous amount of work will need to be done this off-season to build a cohesive team. I think that is definitely possible, I think Coach Underwood has the energy and abilities needed to pull this off. I am looking forward to seeing him succeed at the highest level.

This is going to require an ELITE building job, and is a pretty exciting challenge.

I understand the view that Storr is a tough wing to defend but I just don't see him as an EDG or someone giving 125%. Am I wrong thinking that? Surely Wisconsin would have wanted to keep him and up his NIL money to do so. I may be wrong but I think there is more behind the scenes and hopefully Brad would set that expectation early in the discussions. I don't want Mayer 2.0 or someone bad for the locker room. From behind the TV, the team attitude seemed top notch last year.

It’s a little known fact that Pontiac actually died in 1766. He was known as Chief Obwaandi’eyaag by the Odawa People. He was reportedly clubbed to death on a St.Louis street by the Nephew of Blackdog for a pint of whiskey.

That's an unfortunate story and sad ending for Pontiac. But my question is -

- - - has the nephew of Blackdog entered the Portal? He sounds like an excellent choice to replace Harris, our former dawg.

The primary reason people are saying "he's not an EDG" is because he wants to get paid. Is there really something wrong with getting paid your market value?
Plus I trust Brad with getting these guys to buy in. He's built that culture. So imagine how much Storr could be under that culture?

We only had one "PROVEN scorer at the high D1 level" heading into last year and we were just fine.

All this hand wringing before the portal even closes is wild, to me.

I'm not directing at this at any individual poster, but man, I feel bad for these types of people. Life seems like it would be much more stressful when it's lived this way.
I don't disagree in full, which is why I pointed out that I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a substantial addition to be implemented into the roster.

Regarding last year, let's call it what it is and apologies to Purdue fans in advance...we had the best player in college basketball on our team. TJ put that team on his shoulders for over two weeks. Hawkins was also a proven scorer and I'd put Guerrier into the category of a proven, high level "known" going into the year.

If you tell anyone on this board that we have a first team All American going into next season....you're going to have 25 pages of celebrations and "booms".

If I come at this objectively and if we're just looking at the numbers, we have to replace:

70 Points Per Game
30 Rebounds Per Game
12 Assist Per Game

If I look at the subtractions and I look at the additions, TO DATE, the math doesn't come close to adding up. It is going to take two bonafide scorers to make up for what we lost.

An area of weakness for us last year was strength on the interior. As the roster sits right now(understanding that the portal is alive and well)... we're in a worse spot than we were last year at this time.

We're not going to get into the age of that roster, the experience, the leadership, etc. That'll just have to evolve.

We can't compare last year to this year because last year, we had answers, big ones(Hawkins and TJ) coming into the season. We don't have that right now

This was way too long, but the takeaway here is that you can't blame anyone for feeling anxious, ESPECIALLY if they want this upcoming year to be comparable to last year. Unless a dynamic player(s) like Storr(doesn't have to be Storr) is added to the roster....the expectation level of this team will have the floor of a bubble team with a ceiling that's TBD.

Again, you're 100% right with the fact that we still have three transfers to hop aboard, so making any sort of prediction on the future is utterly ridiculous. That said, that gentleman's statement about the roster being role players right now is not untrue.

Some practice highlights for your viewing pleasure - because that's what the portal recruiting has become - watching practice highlights for kids who redshirted last year - in all seriousness, this kid obviously has a lot of talent

Buck’s practice highlights were pretty similar. How is this guy’s defense?
