The silence around the Hawkins situation has been weird.

He has until next Saturday to declare for the draft.
I was thinking the same.

Maybe he's in Cancun like a lot of the pros right after their season ends.

This is not some prognostication ... I just really finally want to be able to look at a comparison like this with pride and bask in the recent success! Last season:

ILLINOIS: Elite Eight as a #3 seed. 29-9 record. Big Ten Tournament champions. Final AP #6. Underwood entering 8th season here.
CREIGHTON: Sweet Sixteen as a #3 seed. 25-10 record. No championships. Final AP #13. McDermott entering 15th season there.
XAVIER: NIT First Round loss. 16-18 record. No championships. Final AP not ranked. Miller entering 3rd season there.
MICHIGAN: No postseason. 8-24 record. No championships. Final AP not ranked. First year coach hired from FAU.
LOUISVILLE: No postseason. 8-24 record. No championships. Final AP not ranked. First year coach hired from College of Charleston.

Again, it feels REALLY good to potentially lose out on recruits for reasons other than we don't have the recent success to be a draw.
He’s from Illinois too... We’re an NIT team right now

haven’t been on in a while so forgive me if it’s been said. Hearing that Brad and Co are cooling on some of our transfer targets. They think Marcus and Coleman are coming back.

Nope. Very small chance with Marcus. The Coleman ship has almost definitely sailed.

I'm really interested to see whether DGL can take that jump next season. I'm not as high on him as others, because I'm not sure how much strength his frame can put on to help him ward off physical defenders and get himself good looks at his size. That said, he looked like he bought in last year, had some significant growth as a player, made some very good defensive strides, and started playing more of a team game by end of season. He'll get a shot and I hope he gets there, just not sure he does.
He does look small compared to TSJ, MD, and Ty but fairly similar build as Trent or am I wrong? I would take another Trent all day. Everyday. Guy.

Kofi didn’t announce until 4/20, and I think we were about as confident he was gone as we are with Coleman.

In any case, delaying an announcement is t all that strange.

I think he should get more tick. He has a good burst and is explosive going vertical. His defense is pretty good. I think he is 6'2" or so. He can hang. You know he has gotten stronger.

Agree. We had Trent and we've been torched numerous times over the years by "small" guards. It's just not much of an issue in college basketball, imo.....or even the pros.

There are positives and negatives to all players, and sometimes a negative is size and you need to have more positives to offset that. 🤷‍♂️

Trent was a winner. Plain and simple.

Now transfers are doing live decision announcements? I know it's probably just sour grapes because he's not coming here, but second team all-MAC players shouldn't be doing live announcements like they are big time. It also just seems disrespectful to the team you are leaving and the other teams you aren't selecting to do a narrowed down list and live selection like HS seniors - seems he's trying to relive glory he didn't get in HS

Just post a Tipton edit wearing the jersey of the school you choose with "Committed" on it and get on with it - this is your third school in 5 years.

I know Jared Coleman-Jones was mentioned as a potential target on here. Just wanted to give a heads up he’s recently followed basically everyone you could possibly follow affiliated with Texas, so that seems like a lock

I kind of think Coleman transfers just from reading some of his social media but hope I'm wrong.
If his rehab isn't going so well and he needs to come back to college for a year, I want to believe coming back to Illinois is as easy as it seems for someone who dedicated their career here. But I also feel like this year with our March run and how it all ended was really emotionally draining for the team. They gelled as a team so well and will really miss playing together. Coleman may feel he's done just about all he can do at Illinois, went out in a good way, and it may feel a bit 'empty' coming back to the team this year with mostly everyone gone.

In the NIL/portal age, recent success is only a factor. To be honest, it would give me pause if I knew I was going to play with four other new starters in my last year and two of them are TBDs. Sean has had an excellent record so last year's record shouldn't worry the recruits.
