I read your post in my head as if it was Hulk Hogan saying this, and it became the most entertaining post of the day for me. Now, I’m reading through posts and trying to match a narration voice for all the different frequent posters.

If my memory serves me well it was common (at least through the 80's) to have FB players as Walk-on's on the MBB team. I swore that was a thing and I swore we used to sometimes have over the amount allowed to dress for games so they would sometimes get them dressed for a single game and if possible into the game at some point near the end. Of course my memory could just be shot and I'm not remembering right. LOL

Stirring up 90's memories...
Tony Gonzalez at Cal in the mid-90's was a dual sport TE/PF and pretty good on the court, in addition to being a gridiron star. I recall him shining in the NCAA tournament. Charlie Ward won the Heisman, then chose the NBA. TerrelI Owens played both basketball and football at Chattanooga. I remember hearing or reading back in the day a quote from an NBA player about being a college athlete and trying to recruit wide receivers that they played pickup with in the off-season to join the basketball team. Unfortunately, those wide receivers had their $$ and their futures in the football program. Michael Jordan liked playing pickup at North Carolina with the defensive backs from the football team who, he said, were stronger defenders owing to they moved their feet and stayed in front of him!

I remember hearing or reading back in the day a quote from an NBA player about being a college athlete and trying to recruit wide receivers that they played pickup with in the off-season to join the basketball team because they had real talent. Unfortunately, those wide receivers had their $$ and their futures in the football program. I have one closer to home... Preston Pearson was a walk on basketball player at Illinois who then became a 2 year starter on the team. He was drafted by the Colts and played for the Steelers and probably best known as a wide receiver and running back with the Cowboys. He played in 5 Super Bowls.
