Stirring up 90's memories...
Tony Gonzalez at Cal in the mid-90's was a dual sport TE/PF and pretty good on the court, in addition to being a gridiron star. I recall him shining in the NCAA tournament. Charlie Ward won the Heisman, then chose the NBA. TerrelI Owens played both basketball and football at Chattanooga. I remember hearing or reading back in the day a quote from an NBA player about being a college athlete and trying to recruit wide receivers that they played pickup with in the off-season to join the basketball team. Unfortunately, those wide receivers had their $$ and their futures in the football program. Michael Jordan liked playing pickup at North Carolina with the defensive backs from the football team who, he said, were stronger defenders owing to they moved their feet and stayed in front of him!
Jeff Finke for us.

1. Local kid … He follows the team … He’s also a pretty good basketball player himself … Could easily be a PWO here … And something he might want to pursue …

2. FamILLy … It’s not just a FB thing … It’s an athletic department thing … Brad has met with FB recruits on many occasions … Anything that helps us close the deal … Mom & Dad are BIG time Brad fans … His Mom told me it was her highlight of the visit …
From MTZ, went to school with his dad. If I hear anything that the insiders haven’t already stated, glad to help.

If Fland comes I think there's a decent chance he would be a one and done. Two years max though imo
Ah, true that. We have so few one and dones the thought didn’t even come to my mind, but he definitely could be

So few is correct. Zero. One & done in my book is high school player goes to college and plays 1 year and then goes to nba.
Always room for the first.

Incidentally, Ayo has developed a serious outside shot this season. he is shooting 40% from three. he was impressive last night in a play-in game against the Hawks.
Ayo is significantly faster than Boogie. Not even the same speed.

Saw someone say domask could be suspended the first three games of the season if he’s granted another year because of the tournament he played in. Any truth to this?

It feels weird seeing that there's a top prospect from the city right next to my hometown (White Plains) - a shooter like that would've been possibly what we needed against teams like UConn and Purdue though to keep them more honest.

I'd like it for the long term if he was bought into that, but I don't view this is a surefire win for next season by any means. Borderline top 25 recruits rarely impact winning as freshmen these days - Brad said that himself.

I have one closer to home... Preston Pearson was a walk on basketball player at Illinois who then became a 2 year starter on the team. He was drafted by the Colts and played for the Steelers and probably best known as a wide receiver and running back with the Cowboys. He played in 5 Super Bowls.
Don’t believe he ever played football at UI and had a bb scholarship.

My first reaction is this is just Coleman’s sense of humor - knowing his trolling skills on social, he know our fan base has been wondering if he’s coming back and he’s having fun with it

But, on the other hand it is a bit odd that Chester and Amani bolted as quickly as they did just because we signed Booth- they knew we needed another big and Booth would be the least threatening big we could have possibly signed- it’s likely that Brad was just honest that we are going after another C so it was more about why was to come not just Booth. However could it have had something to do with them knowing Coleman was coming back and therefore Amani would be relegated to the same role next year? Hmmm. . .

Insiders, (not you Patty), from where is the OA smoke coming from. Is this really a possibility or just Illini board wishful thinking?
