Less excited about Yohan. Feel like he's more of a straight up Dain replacement in the system Underwood wants to run. Doesn't block shots, not a good rebounder, and poor FT%. Would hope we wouldn't need a guy like that for more than 15 min/game at most.

Deivon I'm intrigued about...but would a guy that averaged 7 assists want to come play alongside a pure PG in Kylan? And would Kylan want to play alongside him?

What surgery can really be done for tendinitis? Or is there actually more wrong with Coleman's knee and the tendinitis is just a byproduct of the real injury or something?
Tendon could have calcium or something built up on it.

From what I’m hearing, we’re only half way through our transfer class. Plan is to bring in 4 more with further attrition expected from current set of returners.

Crazy, but this is college basketball in the year of 2024.
If Hawkins and Domask both return, we have one open; which Brad reportedly wants kept open.

To create 4 more from attrition; Goode, DGL, Rodgers, and Moretti would then all have to leave.

Now I am hungry for potato chips. Real greasy, salty potato chips. Lays or Aldi's. With ranch or onion dip.

Anyone remember Charles Chips?

I think pairing Smith and Boswell would be amazing. Having multiple playmaking guards who can handle and shoot well is the optimal way to construct a roster in college ball. Just look at the 2005 Illini or 2021 Baylor.

Ehhhh, I don't think the record would reflect that.

There was genuine worry about TSJ's lingering back issues limiting him and maybe hampering his ability to play at all, there was a worry we might get nothing from that move, but his explosiveness was exciting and his two-way game was well known.

Mayer was always a luxury complimentary player, a sort of sure thing contributor from a then-recent CBB champion. Lower ceiling but higher floor.

Both were exciting for sure, and of course we were all rookies at this portal stuff at the time.

It took time to sort it all out. The same will probably be true going forward.

I just kinda don't understand why everyone is totally freaking out about the prospect of us being anything other than last year's team but better immediately in November. That's super unlikely and it's fine?

If you get so Denzel-ified that you're disappointed and anxious not to be ranked in the top 5 in the preseason, consider rethinking the way you digest the information around here. We won the most games in the Big Ten the last five years. These are the good old days.
I am breaking one of my own rules about not posting until I've read the entire thread.... But I am VERY confident that I'm in the clear based on a ton of prior posts on the subject. And this is not to harp on you specifically Gritty, I actually think we are on the same page here with MM. I enjoy your posts for what 'I think' they are, an encouragement of discourse, a 'devils advocate' if you will. I think along the same lines though rarely 'put the pen to paper'. I certainly pi$$ off a lot of my family/friends in similar discourse. Here's where I'm going... I am personally ticked off at all the negative posts/innuendos/etc... concerning Matthew Mayer.... I thought, and still think, he was a top notch portal addition. Was he a goofball? Of course, so is Hawkins. Did he win us some game? Absolutely!!! Did he lose us some games, I can't say definitively, but sure, possibly. We are only 3 years into the portal, we are getting better at portalling every year! I DO NOT regret for 1 second bringing MM on to this team. He (and others) helped improve us. Sorry, I cannot do the whole hindsight/what-if thing here on whether or not a POTENTIAL other player, over MM, would have improved our team or W/L percentage. It's a fools errand to think you can change the past and therefore improve the present.....

I agree with you 100%. I think that’d be dynamite. But I wonder if the two of them would feel that way. Especially Kylan, having just gone through the experience of having a high usage backcourt partner.

Who’s leaving? I assume it’s got to be Nico or Luke. Hope it’s not Luke, but it’s not looking like he’s going to get a lot of playing time.
I have absolutely no basis for this other than my own hunch, but it seems to me that Ty might be the odd man out in all of this. Hoping Im wrong, though. (Although I don’t want it to be Luke either)

At a glance Moretti would seem like the guy to have most recently decided it’s time to jet, given Boswell.
