I have absolutely no basis for this other than my own hunch, but it seems to me that Ty might be the odd man out in all of this. Hoping Im wrong, though. (Although I don’t want it to be Luke either)
🤔 I assumed Ty would move back to his natural position. But you may be right. I think there’s always a spot for a guy like Luke. 40% 3 point shooters are tough to come by. Not sure he will be happy with a limited role his senior year though.

I can’t remember the rule on this. Does a red shirt count against our scholarship total? Maybe Jason and/or Nico red shirt?

Yeah, I guess I have heard of that...but that is usually the shoulder, correct? Guess it could be any tendon, though?
Yeah, I had it in the shoulder. Medication worked for this.

I also had issues in my knee that required surgery to smooth out the edges of the meniscus and blast out a cyst…

Lots of things can cause tendinitis and some require surgery. No idea of his case but these were my personal experiences

To me, your description above would be a knee meniscus issue or a cyst issue...not tendinitis. To me tendinitis is a sore/irratated patellar tendon..typically from over use.

But I suspect it may be common to just refer to all misc. knee issues like this (not big ones like ACL, MCL, meniscus tear, cartridge, etc.) as tendinitis?

It was suggested here extra effective scholarships might be created with NIL money. Basically, pay a PWO extrs, and they pay their own tuition etc.

I had doubts, but based on current rules, it could work. Walkons obviously don't get the scholarship, but they now get all the other athletes' perks, such as meals.

The only question I have is squad size. Is 15 mandatory or arbitrary? What would happen to the current walk ons?

Take a trip back to April 2023 and revisit this board's recruiting threads. Then after you do that reflect on this past season's team. All I'm saying is give it some time to allow for things to properly play out.
We were returning two of our top scorers, this year we are not. Unless we get a gift of Coleman and Domask back. I guess the technically in April we didn't know if we would get either back so it's a fair point, BUT it is much less likely this year.

Technically it’s inflammation. The cause of that inflammation can vary.

DB is always plugged in ...

Hearing the same ... 4 more new guys ...
That’s crazy. I trust we can create a good roster from the portal, but man, that’s a lot of change. We need a few guys at least to carry the culture over. That’s where guys like TY and Goode and Domask and Coleman would be especially valuable - beyond being awesome players of course.

I agree … If you said take Maddox and Conwell or Claude … I’m taking Maddox and Conwell every day of the week …

And while Claude isn’t an elite level … TJ type of guy … The dude averaged 16,4,4 playing 37 minutes a game on a bum shooting elbow when the teams knew it was him, Quincy or Dayvion taking a shot every possession … And he guarded the other teams best player … He’s better than people are giving him credit for …
Maddox over Claude straight up.

I have a bad feeling Ty won’t be an Illini next year. I would understand it for both parties but I hope he stays.

So, you are saying we'll have no one left from last year's team? This sucks.
My math suggests two will return, with one likely being DGL after how admant he's been on social media. Moretti and one of Ty/Goodie to also leave. I feel like it's more likely Goode since he got a degree and walked senior night, though some of the portal targets would relegate Ty to the bench, which may be an issue. I suppose it could only be Moretti leaving if Brad is willing to fill up 13 scholarships instead of holding onto one, which has been his preference.

If things work out this way, and we have a great season, I can imagine there being a case study in the future titled something like, "Ability of Every Day Guys to Re-Matriculate and Program-Level Management of Excessive Turnover at NIL's Advent" -- positively or negatively valenced depending on the perspective of the writer.

I don't think your definition of franchise player matches most people's.
I mean I think in the NBA its a guy capable of being a star on a great team. Would you not consider guys like Klay and Draymond franchise players because they made that dynasty possible?

Klay went 11th overall behind Jimmer, Kawhi went 15th, Jimmy Butler went 30th. We really don't know what is going to happen with a lot of these guys.

The truth is that yeah there isn't a blue chip type draft prospect like Wemby but that's pretty normal and we have seen guys like Markelle Fultz, Anthony Bennett, and Ben Simmons get drafted 1st overall.

Personally I think people are really sleeping on Castle. 6'5 with point guard skills, great athleticism, plus defender, and his success at the free throw line suggests he will improve as a 3pt shooter.

But even outside of him Risacher has the chance to be special with his size and skill set. Nikola Topic has been drawing Luka comparisons.

From what I’m hearing, we’re only half way through our transfer class. Plan is to bring in 4 more with further attrition expected from current set of returners.

Crazy, but this is college basketball in the year of 2024.
Does Brad want an open slot on top of that?

3 fr, 8 transfers, 1 open & 1 returning is really testing the 'its the name on the front that counts' mantra.
