In Rod we trust!
Dang. Team is gutted. I know this is the new normal but i dont like it. Hope we get some hardware this year to make me feel better.
Koby Brea, come on down!
I think that smoke on the trilly discord was actually related to the FGCU guard that was on campus. IU fans were trying to piece together who it could be before it was announced, and since goode was visiting his brother IU fans assumed.Don't blame him at all. Was not going to play very much with what we are bringing in.
Speak for all of us when I say please don't go to Indiana
I have to say...I get it...but I don't like it. Really gonna miss Luke. He was a great Illini and he'll do well wherever he ends up (please not Indiana!)
Having Pac-12 Network, and being disappointed when Boswell chose not to play for the Illini, I have watched him play as often as possible for two seasons. Arizona had a ton of talent. Boswell's job was to get the ball to that talent when and where it was needed. But.............on occasion he proved he could score in many ways and knock down the three ball consistently with a great stroke. To me, he was the penultimate PG. He gets to the rim and finishes a time or two a game, but but not forced and only when the opportunity presents itself....not because it is his signature. His potential success from the arc is exciting...but I don't think his height or mentality will ever allow him to be considered a "bomber"....a tag I do not consider complimentary. However, his passing skills are elite and at a level we have never seen at Illinois from a single player and so consistently, although I consider the 89 and 05 teams elite as a group. He was last of their starters in minutes played, pts/gm, WS, ORtg, DRtg (essentially tied), TS, etc, and worse overall than TSJ/Domask.
We wasn't even necessarily first in assists, with three players essentially tied (in a different order depending on which metric).
I'm sure he'll be a fine player for us, but not one I'd count on to be a top one or two player to make us great. He might be, but in my opinion his metrics make him less proven than TSJ/Domask.
boooooo. Was hoping he was The One Who Stayed. his participation in senior day was telling (in retrospect)
Don't blame him at all. Was not going to play very much with what we are bringing in.

Unfortunately I think the price is right too. However, I hope there is a bad taste still in his mouth that they never really recruited him out of high schoolHe is exactly what they are lacking tbh

At a brief glance, he looked kind of interesting to me as a plan B if we can't get Onyenso. Linguard seems to be more of a shooting threat, but probably less athletic and less of a shot blocker? (Linguard actually seems to be decent as a rim protector, but Onyenso looks to just be on another level there)
I know I am in the minority, but I hate the way the new system is tearing apart rosters. How do I even start to care about a team that is 90% new every season?
I think Baylor just got a good one in Roach. That being said, I have watched Boswell a lot and you are correct. I like how he lets the game come to him and orchestrates. Shead was another. Not sure if he was out of eligibility or not.Having Pac-12 Network, and being disappointed when Boswell chose not to play for the Illini, I have watched him play as often as possible for two seasons. Bottom line is that there is not a better PG in college hoops IMHO.....a lot of really good ones at or near....but none better. Sure glad he will wear the O and B.
Don’t we still have dra and ty? Also Hawkins and Domask could still come backHaving an entirely new team is never really a great thing. Really hope we aren’t in for a repeat of the 21-22 season.
The sport cannot go on like this, full stop.I know I am in the minority, but I hate the way the new system is tearing apart rosters. How do I even start to care about a team that is 90% new every season?
I am not a fan to just root for the laundry. I want consistency in players. And if that means we are a step below the best, I can handle that.
