I’ve been thinking that some of the best possible adds would be waiting for NBA feedback right now. Fill your roster now and you lose some major opportunities.
Yeah cuz, duh!?!?!? EVERYONE Knows that EVERY Player that has declared for the NBA draft is GONE, GONE, GONE, BABY GONE !!!!!!!

I believe this part of your duo-post rant is misguided. I believe he was saying that it is good to wait until some of the declarees get feedback and pull out.

Was curious so took a look at Sports Reference… since BU arrived in 2017 only 3 players have played a full 4 years with the Illini.

1. Damonte
2. Trent
3. Coleman

and that includes the walk-ons too
How does this compare to other Big Ten basketball teams?

Good question. I didn’t do anything elegant that would make it easy to check across the league, but maybe someone else has better methods.

oh, for sure! I'm one of those posters who present my posts to the 'die-hard'/frequent poster sort of Illini fans.... They don't need a /s or ;-)

Ok so what. This doesn’t take into account players like Kofi, Giorgio, and Ayo who left early or Felix who was a 2 year transfer and Kipper who played all 4 but not the first year under Brad or Grandison who transferred to Illinois and was here for 3 years and used his Covid year elsewhere.

There’s a lot of factors to why he has such a short list of full 4 year players.

MBA quality isn't my area of expertise, so I did a some web searching. What I found is that going to IL(Geiss) for an MBA vs.IU(Kelley) would be like going to IU for an eng degree vs. UIUC. If Goode wants an MBA, then I think he made the right call.

Of the more concrete data I found: There were 4 major ranking lists: 3 US specific, 1 world wide. Kelley (IN) is ranked between 20th and 30th on all three US ranking lists. They did not make the top 100 MBAs in the world list. Geiss(IL) was not on any list. All of the lists had at least 100 entries.

IL accounting is an entirely different matter. I saw it as 5th on one list as I scanned. I didn't actively look for it on the others.
I'm alumni of our "iMBA" program and while I thoroughly enjoyed it, I didn't do it to get a big corporate job or brag about program rankings. "We" had asked not to be ranked on most if not all lists. Initially, it was because there wasn't a lot of data about results having transitioned to an online-only program. Now, you'd have to believe it's because it wouldn't help our marketing. And it makes sense right? If your MBA degree is far cheaper than top programs, that opens up a whole new market of students who wouldn't have paid what those top programs command for the degree. And then results may vary accordingly. My experience with the program was fantastic, and I'd recommend it to nearly anyone.

As far as Goode is concerned, if he wants a top MBA on a scholarship, transferring to Indiana makes sense. They have a highly ranked program that is well respected.

Big10 championships are about to get more difficult to win.

Added some very good coaches in Muss and Altman and a great program in UCLA.
I don’t believe conference championships are that important any more. Each team’s fair share is 1 every 18-20 years. Several teams are going to go 40-50 years without a conference title!

In fact, conference championships are becoming almost harder to win than national championships due to the extreme competition in the Big 10.

It’s now all about getting a post season “invitation” —- in football, basketball, and baseball. Then see if you can get really hot (and a little bit lucky) over a 3-week span to win a Natty.

Seems to me were are about even in the Portal gets vs losses

The point of this was to show that we will still have the talent that we had with our Portal departures. It will be tough for them to gel together like last years team. It has to be tough to find new EDG, and IMO we must be somewhat of a tough program to play for . Which makes it really good when it works, not so much when it doesn't. Remember what it was like before BU, none of us wants that.

I look forward to the "big gets" that our insiders have hinted to, and I think Morez Johnson may be the best Illini that we've had since Ayo (maybe better). He continually over achieves and does it without drama.
