That's not what you said ... You said we don't have the money ... I'm saying we do ...

I wouldn't bet the farm on us getting all 3 of those guys obviously ...

But even landing 2 ? That's quite the accomplishment ... And we have the resources to get 3 of those "kind of guys" ...
We might have the money for what we have jotted down or have initial feelers about their prices being. We do not have enough for all three of where the bidding will end up on the open market, because every apex NIL shark will dig deeper than what is perceived to be out there to land those players. It's total Dutch Tulip Craze panic mode out there. That's not some worry about the future, everyone already knows it to be true, you've posted this yourself.

Lock down Onyenso, today (accepting for the sake of the hypothetical that it's possible). Do not wait for Kalk, who is just Beanpole Storr, he just wants top dollar and that won't be us when the music stops.

This isn't sports, this is simple economics. We have the resources to win this game, but only if our strategy is correct. If we start hitting on 17 against a low dealer card we're going to get ourselves killed out there.

Seems like great bigs are rich in possibility. Any "elite" wings to keep an eye on? Outside David Jones, is there another one we're after? Maybe Kadary is that guy.

All of these potential transfer scenarios are so much fun to think/dream about. But I think Illinois needs to focus on getting a rim protector (Onyenso?), a backup point guard/ball handler (Alexander?), and a stud scorer/shooter capable of being the starting 2-guard (Wooga Poplar? Chaz Lanier? Kadary Richmond? Desmond Claude? Jalen Blackmon?). And nail down a Ben Humrichous transfer. That's a 13-man roster for next season. If someone else transfers out (Moretti? DGL?), use that spot to go big game hunting! DaRon Holmes II? David Jones? (If he ever enters the portal.) Javon Small? A stud still to enter the portal?

Def. like Holmes > Kalk but that'd probably be a little too pricey. In that case, Kalk is more than just a reasonable consolation. Indy, is it possible we can get both one of Kalk or Holmes and Onyenso as well? Really like Onyenso's potential.
Kalk would be more impactful to winning than Holmes or Onyenso, and I don’t think it’d be close

Except it's not "our" money, or the athletic departments money, or taxpayer money - it's donor money. If they want to go crazy and spend their money to land the biggest fish, then more power to them (and us!). If they have full faith and confidence in Brad and Co to finally win us a Natty with the right players, then there's really nothing to stop them. It's basically what Miznoz seems to be doing in football: buy all the best players (money be damned!) in order to win right stat now, by God!

Yes, at this point it's sort of devolved into an alumni donor pissing match, which is great for us for basketball, and sadly not so great for football.

Goode didnt ever play the 2 and Humrichous isn't a 2 either - im confused?

It was a poor joke. As I recall posters were speculating Goode would be out two guard around this time last year, and now are speculating he’ll get minutes as a two guard at IU.

Instead of trying to be funny, I should have asked Indy for his thoughts on if us going after Holmes would impact how seriously we pursue Humrichous and if they could play together.

Mizzou isn't buying all of the best players, they are buying an unusual number of relatively strong players relative to the historic standing and general fanbase size of that program.

They have none of the top 10 and only 2 of the top 50 transfers currently per 247.

Richmond, Jones, Kalkbrenner and DaRon Holmes would be, at the very least, all top 10 guys in the portal.

If our people go crazy, #BBN's people will go crazier. We need to act rationally here.

Find guys who answer the "why us" question, and close them down.

There were rumors that if Coleman or Domask were to come back, we had donors outside of NIL to foot the bill?! Why don't these guys step up to help land players we need through the NIL system? I'm surprised that our basketball NIL pool is very average? We have a huge alumni association.
There have been MULTIPLE reports here that our NIL is pushing top 10 nationally and either #1 or #2 in the Big Ten ... no need for the "woe is us" in this regard, we are VERY well positioned for NIL.

I am not in the weeds on the pricing or transfer portal waves but we are ignoring some basic economics if we think pricing for players is static right now. CFB is dealing with these principles right now. You may have an agreement for your player at $1 million now, but that just means the rising tide pushes the price for teams desperate for a similar player are now willing to offer $1.4 million.

Getting one or even two of those guys on the same team will create panic in the market for the teams that didn't land those players. Still-available players will increase their price based on demand and donors may be more willing to pay to make sure their favorite team stays relevant. We just went through these stages with Storr, where people were certain he was ours but then "other factors" became involved - that's exactly how these things play out.

3 TO/ game on 27% 3pt? We can do better….
Others already mentioned his assists and high 3pt% before this year, but he also averaged 2.2 steals, so he had fewer "turnovers minus steals per 100 possessions" than TSJ or Domask. Plus high rebounding %s for his size/pos and some blocks, so he's still valuable even if his 3pt% isn't much better (though his high FT% is one more reason to think this year's 3pt% was an outlier).
