It’s felt like this kid has thought about it every year but never really pursues anything. Is he just grabbing attention?

6'10" 240 pound center Jared Coleman-Jones, formerly of Middle Tennessee State University, is transferring to San Diego State University. JCJ averaged 11.0/7.6/2.3 for MTSU this past season, shooting 45.2% from the field, including 44.2% on 3s, and 77.1% from the line. I hope that Illinois at least expressed some interest in JCJ. He's a good rebounder, a willing passer, he shot 44.2% on 3s, and he's a very solid FT shooter. I think he could've played in a 5-out offense for Illinois, rolling to the hoop, and making 3s if left open. And I'm guessing he wouldn't have broken our NIL bank.

I really hope Illinois (Antigua and Anderson) has an "in" with David Jones. The kid is a stud. He would come as close as anyone to filling the hole on offense left by the departure of TSJ. But if Illinois is going to throw a huge amount of dollars at ONE player in the portal, I'd prefer it to be 6' 10" DaRon Holmes II of Dayton. He averaged 20.4/8.5/2.6 on the season (a willing passer!), shooting 54.4% from the field (efficient!), including 38.6% on 3s (that's 38.6!), and 71.3% on FTs. I think we could backfill some scoring wings/guards onto the roster if we signed Holmes.

I think getting Jones along with Holmes would be dream scenario. Donno what problem Bardo has with Jones. He had some rough words for Jones there on his show. Not tryina act too unrealistic but it's def. possible that both Holmes and Jones could be AAs next year

Kinda disappointed, and assuming that we didn't push too hard for him. We probably wouldn't have lost to the likes of SDSU if we did. If we get Oyneso (sp) I'll understand though.

I can't imagine Illinois could land Jones, Holmes, AND B-Hum for multiple reasons. Has Holmes even entered the portal? Our insiders have also said Underwood wants to add four more transfers (and maybe five). I think Jones and Humrichous are viable options to commit, but that would still leave two transfers to add. Gotta add a rim-protecting 5-man and probably another primary ballhandler.

Well...1/3 there!

I keep thinking that Illinois needs to add a big rim protector to the roster. I would love to see us add 7'0" 247 pound Kentucky center Ugonna Onyenso. Perhaps Coach Antigua can make that happen. The only other remaining CENTER whose name I've heard mentioned is 6'10" Alabama center Nick Pringle. But maybe the staff would be willing to go into next season with Morez Johnson, Carey Booth, and Ben Humrichous as the only "bigs" in our rotation? That just seems risky to me. There are always injuries and foul trouble to consider. And we might see centers dominating Illinois inside, just like this past season. Oh well, I just need to wait and see how this plays out. Does Humrichous commit to Illinois? Does Onyenso commit? Does DaRon Holmes?
