Do you think this current roster could beat a WNBA all-star team?

5. Illinois doesn't have a true center, a rim protector. Are we down to Ugonna Onyenso (Kentucky) or Nick Pringle (Alabama)? Do any of you know of any other transfer centers that we potentially might be interested in? 4. I'd say Illinois is set with power forwards. (I know, we shouldn't think of players anymore as positions 1 through 5.) Carey Booth, Morez Johnson, and Ben Humrichous are all good players. (And Jason Jakstys could develop into a CoHawk type of stretch 4 in the future.) 3. We have some solid wings/small forwards in Tre White, Jake Davis, and Ty Rodgers. (Although the 6'6" Rodgers could play some minutes at PF also.) Is there enough scoring from that group? 6'7" F Trazarien White from UNC Wilmington looks like a great target, but his skills might overlap with the "other" White (Tre) already on the team. 2A. We don't have a scoring SG, a shooter, on the roster. Who's left out there? Khalif Battle of Arkansas (visiting Kansas State) is one, and TJ Bamba of Villanova (visiting Kentucky) is another. A couple of combo guards that could fill that shooter/scorer spot are 6'4" Chaz Lanier from North Florida and 6'3" Jalen Blackmon of Stetson. Does anyone know of other potential transfers for this role? 2B. I'm warming to G/F Desmond Claude of Xavier as a possible transfer to Illinois. He's a 6'6" sophomore who averaged 16.6/4.2/3.2 this past season. Although he shot an abysmal 23.9% on 3s, he apparently was playing through an injury to his shooting elbow, with said injury now having been repaired by a medical procedure. He can play the point or the wing, and he's said to be a very good defender; one with 2 years of eligibility left. I'd be happy if the Illini could get this young man from the transfer portal. (I think he might be visiting Texas Tech.) 1. We have our starting point guard, Kylan Boswell. Assuming they both stay, I'm guessing that Gibbs-Lawhorn and Moretti will serve as backup point guards to Boswell. There is some opinion out there that Illinois might decide to add transfer PG Posh Alexander of Butler (formerly at SJU). He's a very good floor general and passer, plus he apparently is a great defender. He'd be a good add if Underwood and staff decide to go that route.

We like paragraphs (hint, hint).

Bro Richard ...

Long electronic postings ... no one reads them.

Maybe just the paragraph lead sentences ... but as another bro states in this thread ...you did not use paragraphs.

One good thing about being an Illinois grad is ... you must be able to write well else no degree. In my day ...
Rhetoric 101 and 102 required then if still deficient, Rhetoric 200.

And not only paragraphs and punctuation. When I was in seventh grade I once pronounced epitome as epi-toam; and Yosemite as Yose-might. I was quickly corrected by teacher and somehow past English class. I went for broke and learned; I had nothing to loose.

Re. Memphis recruiting.......It doesn’t hurt that these guys’ dads all probably geek out when Penny comes to the house.
Exactly. I was thinking the same thing.

For the Illini equivalent, think back to the Lovie Smith hire and the impact it had on the influx of talent for our football program. Over the moon!!!!!

Many of us on here are Illinois alums, but some are just lifelong fans. So, not necessarily a reflection of a UIUC degree.
Not an alum, grew up in Urbana, Father was captain on u of I police in charge of security for all events. I used to get all-around press passes for any game or concert. Horseshoe used to be a buck. Grew up by the equipment manager for the football team, met lots of players. Have a 8x10 auto'd by Tab Bennett to this day. Knew Lou through Dad. My Urbana high education left me a terrible speller, but I can usually get spell check to work.

Ever since I saw epitome spelled “appitimy” on this board, I’ve begun to question the present day value of an Illinois degree. Cringeworthy.
It's a basketball message board. The fact that you understood what he meant, regardless of the misspell, is good enough. Don't be "that guy". It puts into question the character of the people that the school is allowing to leave with a degree....assuming you left with a degree.

Be nice. We're all on the same team here.

Yeah, I get that… everyone has money now. And he was pulling top talent prior to NIL (money under the table I Suppose). Anyway, my point is, guys can get paid at lots of better places than Memphis. With a better coach and much more exposure
That was my thinking. Guys who ignored the rules in the past had a competitive advantage. NIL should be leveling the the playing field. If it's not; then perhaps they are winning bidding wars, providing benefits that aren't really NIL (pay for play?), and so on. Or not.
